Mergers and Acquisitions
TransPerfect is focused on international growth through acquisitions. In 2012 it acquired Tokyo-based Yamane Documentation, which specializes in translation and website localization services. The prior year it purchased another translation and website localization firm WorldLingo, which brought clients such as Eli Lilly, Belkin, and H. J. Heinz, as well as several US and European government agencies.
TransPerfect completed a few key acquisitions in 2010 as well. The company strengthened its software platform when it bought Astoria Software. Integrating Astoria's products helped the company to recognize cost efficiencies related to the writing, translation, and publishing of data. Also that year TransPerfect snatched up AD-COM, a provider of translation services based in Canada. The deal extended the company's services in the French Canadian market and added a Montreal production hub to its existing three Canadian locations.
The firm is also growing by opening new offices across the globe. In 2012 it established locations in Madrid and Rome. In 2011 and 2010 TransPerfect opened offices in Seoul, Shanghai, São Paulo, and Palma de Mallorca, as well as Düsseldorf, Mexico City, Lyon, and Zurich. – less
