Customer Service
Insurance Service Representative (Current Employee) –  Spokane, WAJune 27, 2017
It is a call center job, but it is corporate, not outsourced, which makes a huge difference. Most people will be required to obtain an insurance license. Training for the job and the license is paid. Management is low quality and managers appear to be given little training or support. The culture varies based on manager and current company goals. It is a typical corporate environment. The hardest part of the job is dealing with management and riding out often unfair purges. The most enjoyable part is learning about insurance and helping people.
Pros
Decent salary, good benefits
Cons
Typical call center stat pressure, monotony

long hours, no management support, no advancement
Property Adjuster (Former Employee) –  Indianapolis, INJune 27, 2017
No employee retention desire, no support from management staff, no home life/work life balance, expected to work over 60 hours a week, no real advancement opportunities, focus on meeting metrics that are nearly impossible to meet without committing 90% of your entire life to it, arduous reimbursement procedures, focus on saving money for the company too strong, long term employees treated like trainees and not conducive to a good customer outcome. Pay is OVERWHELMINGLY lower than industry standards for experienced reps. Great benefits but that doesn't make relationships, form bonds, allow for home balance or instill a strong desire to stay with the company. limited increases in pay (if any), no yearly shared bonuses, terrible morale, upper management just tells you that you will get through it, that they will provide help soon. Feels like they are pushing people out of the door as quickly as they can. Good luck working for this company and still maintaining any level of sanity or self respect.

Micromanagement approach
Claim Manager (Former Employee) –  Orlando, FLJune 24, 2017
Not enough room for growth once in management position. Company is too set in "old" ways of doing business. Not enough flexibility to provide a healthy work, life balance. Some managers are excellent but are so busy with projects, meetings, and overseeing(directing) quality management they are overworked and stressed constantly.

One of the hardest jobs to really learn, but great resources and environment. Lots of potential to bonus, but rigorous requirements must be met to do so.
Cons

Claim Operations Specialist (Former Employee) –  Diamond Bar, CAJune 20, 2017
The pay and compensation the company provides is generous or on par with other companies. The negative is it that's balanced out with a very strict work culture and attitude.

SENIOR CLAIMS ADJUSTER (Former Employee) –  Richmond, VAJune 15, 2017
Travelers is a great place to work if you are ready to devote your life to it. They offer some of the best training in claims handling in the country and I would recommend them to anyone. I wish I had never left to go to a smaller company. I owe my business acumen to this company and wish I could go back. I learned the hard way the grass is not always greener!
Pros
training, products, pay, people
Cons
work life balance, good is never good enough

Outside Property Claim Representative (Former Employee) –  Denver, COJune 13, 2017
Work was satisfying as it was related to helping victims of ill-fate. However, in times of regional crisis, workload created a work-life imbalance, many times for weeks at a time.

Toxic environment in Baltimore Legal
Legal Secretary (Former Employee) –  Baltimore, MDJune 10, 2017
Once hired there is no training, you have to learn on your own. Then ridiculed when you make a miatake.

Coworkers are nasty, talk about you and will not help you. Office supervisor goes along with them. She talks about her staff. Very nasty and makes you feel less then what you are. As a newcomer your rules will be very different then those of others. Office supervisor does not keep confidentiality. You will receive nasty emails, accusing you of things you did not do or having to defend your actions daily.

Stay Away in Georgia!!!
Auto Appraiser (Former Employee) –  GeorgiaJune 10, 2017
Auto Appraisal management is terribly incompetent in Georgia. Constant turnover, management treats employees like children, has no organization or plan or clue what is going on. Corporate office training is excellent with people that actually know how a vehicle is constructed and how to treat employees. Appears Corporate is cleaning house in Alpharetta as head of auto recently left. Corporate should continue to clean house in Alpharetta in the auto appraisal management department. Most appraisers are knowledgeable and good people. Not so for the Alpharetta management. Clean house Corporate! Travelers has been a good company too long to let a few incompentant managers ruin your reputation.
Pros
Training
Cons
Alpharetta management

its not easy to get hired, but once you do, you have to figure it out yourself. there is never a positive word. The managers only know how to read reports and there is not consistent message
