About Tri-Lakes Medical Center

Serving portions of Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas, Baptist Memorial Health Care consists of 14 hospitals and a network of clinic, home health care, and hospice operations. The health system has more than 2,600 beds, with more than 1,300 of them located in the greater Memphis area. Its flagship facility is 700-bed Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis, – more... a tertiary care facility offering advanced care in numerous medical specialties, including cardiovascular disease and pediatrics. Through an affiliation with Baptist College of Health Sciences, the organization provides undergraduate education in a number of health care fields, including nursing and medical radiography.

The flagship hospital on Memphis's east side is where Elvis Presley was pronounced dead in 1977. There are other network facilities in the city and its suburbs as well as four in small towns in western Tennessee, four in northern Mississippi, and one in northeastern Arkansas. Looking to the near future, the Baptist Cancer Center is in the planning stages, the first such institution in the Memphis area. In the last few years Baptist Memorial Health has been acquiring several small, local physician groups that specialize in cancer treatment in anticipation of incoporating them into the new facility.

Since 1999 the system has operated a bereavement camp, named Camp Good Grief, for preteens and adolescents to come to terms with the loss of loved ones. In 2003 it added a camp by the same name for adults as well. – less
