We are currently seeking to hire a Senior Database Administrator. This is a Full-Time Permanent position located in the San Diego, CA area. This is NOT a contract position. Applicants must be presently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. This company does not sponsor individuals for the purpose of obtaining H-1 visas. We are seeking someone with 5+ years of professional all-around SQL Server Database Administration experience. This position will provide administration of SQL databases supporting a mission critical, high-transaction 7/24 environment.

This position is an operational role providing for the administration of SQL databases supporting a mission critical, high-transaction 7x24 processing environment. This individual will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills and make recommendations regarding database performance. This position will be responsible for database capacity planning, trending, and optimization. It requires the ability to react quickly and competently to detect, troubleshoot, and resolve issues. This position is a senior technical role involved with designing, implementing, and leading database upgrades and migrations as applicable.

Job Duties:

  • Perform system tuning, performance monitoring, and database maintenance.
  • Profile, identify, and resolve database performance issues.
  • Optimize database queries and indexes.
  • Provide database capacity planning.
  • Manage database replication between facilities.
  • Maintain and administer database security.
  • Establish and monitor database cluster, database backups, and maintenance plans.
  • Create and maintain database stored procedures and triggers.
  • Review and execute database scripts as part of the application release process.
  • Coordinate and execute database upgrades, patches, and installation of supporting utilities.
  • Develop reports and fulfill custom requests for internal end-users.
  • Create and run reports using SSRS.
  • Make recommendations regarding the database platform in terms of design, upgrades/migrations, application performance, operational processes, capacity, scalability, availability, and recoverability.

Salary Range:

Job Requirements:

  • Must have 5+ years working as a DBA, seeking strong SQL skills.
  • Microsoft SQL certifications a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge and demonstrated experience in trouble shooting, problem determination, root cause analysis and rapid problem resolution.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Must be customer oriented and highly cognizant of the importance of customer service and meeting service level commitments.
