The IT Technician will execute corrective and preventive maintenance for our Customers’ computers & networks and work on the IT Support Desk. Work will be between our offices and on-site work at clients’ offices. The technician will travel to various locations in Northern New Jersey as well as New York City.
Technician will begin with basic desktop computer support, and general administrative tasks on servers and network infrastructure. This is a huge opportunity for growth for the right technician, as in the future they will install, configure, and troubleshoot servers, NAS/SAN devices, Virtualization software, and network infrastructure.
Duties include correcting issues related to software installations, malware problems, and printer/peripheral installations. The Technician duties also include Installing software, printers, networking equipment, etc. Occasionally train users on the appropriate use of computers & computer related technologies.
Technician will be expected to pursue industry certifications, as appropriate. It is the intent that the candidate be serious-minded for a career in Information Technology. The Technician will report to the Director of Technical Services.
This is a permanent position with a 90 day probationary period.
Education and Experience
An Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of training and experience is desirable. What is required, however, is a desire & ability to learn networking, computer/server support. This learning will occur in both on-the-job situations, designated training periods, and a certain amount of self-study is also expected.
The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of basic networking, Windows desktop operating systems, Microsoft Office suite, and a basic understanding of Windows Server.

The technician will interface directly with customers, vendors, and partners, and must be prepared to present & conduct themselves in a manner consistent with a professional services company. This includes the ability to articulate well in person, over the phone, and in writing.

Technician will follow existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and build new SOPs as needed. Technician will work independently and within a team, so working within company processes, and documenting their work sufficiently is necessary and required.
Technician will use his/her own vehicle for travel, so he/she will need a reliable vehicle. Technician will be required to lift up to 50 lbs. Technician will be available for 40 hours of work per week to start, with potential for a full time position. Early morning, evening, and occasionally weekend work is required during project periods, after-hours maintenance, and emergency situations. Some scheduling flexibility may for afforded for students enrolled in relevant coursework. A background check and drug screen are mandatory and required.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. The ability to deal with problems involving several variables in a time sensitive situation is also highly regarded.
