Teacher, Dallas, TX - July 23, 2016
Utterly terrible work environment. I was totally tricked into thinking this place was good for children. They run the school like a mini-prison; as long as the kids are compliant, the administration is happy even it the students are not learning. Minor incidents are MAJOR crises here. (i.e. if a student wears a bracelet- forbidden, then it is front page gossip among the teachers and that student is escorted to the office for suspension) As a teacher, eyes are on you at all times. And the kicker... No teacher had been there longer than 3 years. I repeat, no teacher had been there longer than 3 years. There were no 'vets' or 'lifers'. It was filled with teachers who were either trying to get certified, were certified but weren't any good at their job and could only work here, didn't know any better and took the available job (yours truly), or had gotten fired from other districts and this job didn't seem to mind. Very bad environment. If you need a job, fine... Take it. But as soon as you get hired, start looking for another one. It's not a contract job; people get hired and fired on a weekly basis.
