US-TX-Dallas – QA Engineer

Under general supervision, this person is responsible for performing various activities resulting in Develop, Plan, Maintain, and Execute Tests (both automated and manual) in timely delivery of new releases and maintenance updates for all Trintech software products. A successful candidate will be a self-starter, have excellent communication skills and be an adaptable team player.


  • Collaborate with a Business Analyst to ensure comprehensive requirements based testing is achieved
  • Comply with the company's software development life cycle standards as it applies to Agile and Scrum
  • Participate in the development of additional processes related to quality
  • Participate in product design-analysis-phase activities, to provide feedback and gain product knowledge
  • Participate in test plan reviews and routine code reviews to ensure high standards
  • Participate in User Acceptance Testing on an assigned Scrum Team
  • Provide estimates for creation, execution of test cases and track progress using TFS 2010 task structure
  • Prioritize test execution based on risk, priority, and acceptance criteria
  • Develop, maintain, and execute tests (both automated and manual) from MS-Test Manager
  • Develop coded UI test scripts using both recorded and coded C#
  • Maintain scripts that require updates due to application changes
  • Review manual test cases and determine effective automation strategies
  • Analyze test results, report defect, and assist the Engineering staff with problem resolution during all software phases
  • Perform regression testing and assist with review and testing of technical documentation
  • Be responsible for developing test cases based on acceptance criteria identified
  • Be responsible for execution of manual testing using risk based testing principles to minimize risk and provide the most benefit
  • Be responsible for the quality and accuracy of each test case and defect
  • Work as part of the Quality Assurance and Scrum Teams to ensure products delivered meet customer requirements and expectations as outlined in User Stories and Acceptance Criteria
  • Participate in audit standards discussions and provide feedback to Quality Assurance Team
  • Effectively communicate issues with team and management
  • Work with Offshore Team

Qualifications & Characteristics
The successful candidate will be self-motivated and proactive with a strong work ethic and excellent time management/project management skills, including the ability to analyze project scope and meet deadlines. In addition, this position requires:

  • A thorough understanding of testing methodologies and SDLC
  • Comply with the company's Agile, Scrum, and other software development lifecycle practices and standards
  • Working knowledge of SQL, C#, Visual Studio 2010 IDE, TFS, HTML structure and SharePoint
  • Strong logical, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills; via written, verbal, and presentation methods are essential
  • Ability to execute multiple types of tests including interface, regression, system, etc.
  • Ability to write scripts for test execution and problem resolution
  • Ability to collaborate in a non-confrontational manner
  • Ability to contribute and adhere to process
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment where deadlines are essential

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or IT discipline or equivalent work experience
  • Requires minimum 4-6 years of relevant Software QA work experience of an enterprise software business application that has been released and maintained, preferably in multiple versions
  • Experience and familiarity with SQL, C#, .NET, Regular Expressions, standard web controls, and the ability to read/interpret HTML
  • Experience and familiarity with Configuring, implementing, using, and maintaining automated testing scripts, Microsoft Team Test or other industry standard testing tools. (preferred)
  • Experience and knowledge in VM, hyper-V, general computer system configuration and maintenance
  • Experience and knowledge in Test Manager, SharePoint, Windows OS (XP, Windows 7, Windows server 2008)
  • Experience and knowledge in Financial Applications and/or Accounting knowledge a plus
  • Experience and knowledge in an Agile/Scrum environment
