Veterinary Animal Caretaker, Norristown, PA - July 14, 2016
Coming in to work at the veterinary hospital was a breath of fresh air to me in high school. I loved coming in every shift, either morning or evening, to be greeted by all of the pets that were lodging with us. I didn't mind that it was dirty work (cleaning cages, bathing animals, feeding, mopping etc.) because it meant I got to spend time with the animals. Working here taught me how to have a stronger stomach when dealing with some gross incidents, to remain calm when things don't go exactly as planned, and how to come up with multiple plans when plans A and B don't work out. Working as an animal caretaker fueled my desire to work with animals later in life and I currently am working toward a career in veterinary work as a Veterinary Technician. My coworkers were very inclusive and supportive of me and constantly changing my mood from a bad one to a good one. Sometimes dealing with the rowdy pets was not easy but I always had support from my coworkers.
