We operate on a team-based approach to learning to provide a closer connection between students, teachers, and staff. We are proud to have a chapter of the National Junior Honor Society which recognizes those students with exemplary citizenship, service, leadership, scholarship and character. We provide our students with the opportunity to participate in interscholastic modified sports programs including basketball, football, volleyball, soccer, swimming, cheerleading, and cross-country. We offer a variety of school-based clubs and activities including the Yearbook Club, Skiing Club, GIVE, Student Council, Future City, and a club modeled after the SADD program. We are keeping up with technology with an up-to-date Media Center equipped with a computer lab and classrooms with SmartBoards and laptops. TMS collaborates closely with several community organizations such as SUNY Albany, Rensselaer County, and the Troy Police Department. We have strong ties with neighboring RPI which is evident by our students participation in the in-school Tutoring Program, the STEP program, and various summer camps. We offer on-site homework assistance and activities, as well as field trips, through the 21st Century After-School Program. Throughout the year, TMS hosts evening programs and events for both students and families, such as Teen Nights, our annual Multicultural Night, and holiday dances.
We provide opportunities during the school day in the Fine Arts including Band and Chorus classes as well as and individual music lessons. Our programs are affiliated with NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association), and our students participate in All County Band and Chorus.
