The Troy University Theatre Program is committed to fostering an atmosphere of creative experimentation in theatre preparation and performance and to developing theatrical performance as an academic, cultural, and recreational activity by:
Developing opportunities for students to have exposure to and work with recognized artists in the field. Encouraging commitment to the work of other artists and venues as well as seeking professional feedback from arenas outside this area. Providing a broad-based course of study which serves the theatre generalist, the future theatre professional, or educator. To that end, the program is committed to encouraging faculty and staff to work in an interdisciplinary fashion. Seeking and retaining faculty and staff dedicated to excellence in the classroom as well as being committed to artistic excellence, the collaborative process, and professionalism. To that end, the faculty is greatly empowered by the expectation of and opportunity to develop as artists and educators. Seeking to provide enlightened and entertaining experiences for our audiences. Providing and utilizing facilities and equipment which better maximize the education and production process and enhance the enjoyment of the audience. Providing for the changing needs of an increasingly diverse student body, University Community, and community at large.
