No longer the teachers credit union - DON'T WORK HERE
Personal Banker (Former Employee) –  Plymouth, MNJanuary 12, 2016
Former TCF upper management have performed a coup on the teachers credit union, and their management style of fear and intimidation rolls down through all levels of management. Currently being sued by their union, even the members can see that they have become a completely different company. As positions come open, they are actively filling them with other TCF alumni. They pay well, and use that to justify treating their employees poorly. Its not fair to the membership, who are slowing realizing the change and leaving for other credit unions with happy employees like Wings and Affinity Plus.
Pros
High pay
Cons
Everything else, vindictive, hostile managers, poor work environment

Credit Union going through major changes
SUPPORT SERVICES CLERK (Former Employee) –  PlymouthMay 3, 2015
They are a union company that often surpassed very qualified individuals for promotions while allowing less productive employees to advance.

Highly unorganized, management thinks you are a number
Contact Center Representative (Former Employee) –  Plymouth, MNMay 8, 2014
Overworked (new software system in 2012 and again in 2014, plus mergers) - employees are expected to work as long as needed without regard to your personal life.

Sr. Management - Sr. management is all new over the last couple of years and comes from a prominent Wayzata based regional bank. No longer has a credit union feel and management tells you that you can be replaced. Credit union is run as a bank rather than a credit union.

CEO - the CEO is not pleasant to deal with is known to tell employees that they are not strapped to their chair. Employees don't feel valued and are constantly "reminded" they are overpaid and have good benefits.

Training - training is non-existant. Employees are thrown into positions with little to no training. Even with new software system, employees were under-trained because management was too cheap to properly train.

Chauvinism rules
Loan Officer (Former Employee) –  MinneapolisMarch 3, 2013
This company is run by chauvinism...women are secondary. I tried to fit in but insecure people run this organization and employees trash upper management, especially their CEO! It is an ugly environment and I'm happy to be out of this company!
Pros
organized
Cons
mean people

Member Driven, Position Task oriented Environment
Teller (Current Employee) –  Golden ValleyMay 26, 2012
Standard Business hours with Saturday less than a half day, but will always have at least one weekend, maybe two off a month. Very team driven envrionment but very task directed. Everyone has there own responsibility but are reliant on the whole. Great listing of policy and procedures on internal website, have staff that have been with company for a very long time and are excellent resources. Monthly one on one meetings which is great for receiving direction and letting your management know what is going well and waht isn't. HR department is wonderful, listens to your needs very well, and address them appropriately and promptly. Members are wonderful for the most part. This place is really geared towards customer service and member relations. Our members can be a bit spoiled but really enjoy this company as they do there best to always satisfy. The members seem to be the best part, friendly and easy to communicate with. Difficult part is work environment is full of various personalities that can clash a bit, but its manageable.
Pros
awesome rewards program, great benefits, great members, pto full and pt
Cons
drive up teller line far from lobby teller line
