Survey Specialist III & Tech Support (Current Employee) – San Bernardino, CA – January 20, 2013
There's a good amount of travel (some international) with this job as well as various tasks to master, mostly computer-related. The job can get extremely redundant and great attention to detail is required. The workplace is relatively drama-free but your attitude will ultimately determine how your experience is.
No, this is not really a good place to work, especially if you don't know anyone in middle management or higher. The job of a rank and file technician is not that difficult, and in most cases, the product is not very useful... so you can end up feeling like a cog in a very large money-wasting machine. And being a contract-based business, there are regular layoffs. Even if you are hired without knowing anyone, excellent performance will not keep you from being laid off in favor of mediocre employees who know the right people. Take the job if you are desperate, get your security clearance, but keep looking.
