Assistant Professor (Former Employee), New Orleans, LAMarch 14, 2014
Pros: i was able to grow considerable as an educator, scholar, and administrator.
Cons: i was denied tenure.
The best part of the job was to be able to see the city come back to life after Katrina, and be part of an institution--the biggest employer in town--that helped substantially to the rebuilding process. Tulane is a great school and I was grateful I got to be part of it for a few years.

Prestigious University, terrible politics
Director (Current Employee), New Orleans, LAJanuary 5, 2014
All universities are plagued with politics that get in the way of doing business. Tulane is no different. Once you get past this, everything else is great. Good atmosphere, football is making a come back, science advancement is picking up speed.

Mentor/Educator (Former Employee), New Orleans, LAJanuary 2, 2014
Pros: valued for my knowledge and abilities.
Cons: salary for adjunct teachers in the arts
I worked as adjunct faculty at Tulane University. It was a positive work environment and the students were most enjoyable. The skills and experiences that I had developed "in the real world" were highly appreciated and valued by the faculty. I worked with students who were going to be teachers in the public schools and in order to teach them my experiences – more... were highly valued. – less

The Tulane School of public health is located in a lovely area of New Orleans, right next to Canal Street. There are many local options for food and nice walks. The work environment is great for grad students and promoted a work/school/personal life balance.

Administrative Assistant (Former Employee), New Orleans, LANovember 6, 2013
I worked in the Department of Surgery in the Division of Surgical Oncology where I provided clerical support to four surgical oncologists. I then transferred to the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery where I provided clerical support to two plastic surgeons who were preparing for board certification. I also provided clerical support to the – more... plastic surgery residents when needed. I got along well with my coworkers and I learned a great deal in my positions. I enjoyed the exposure to the academic side of medicine. – less
