The Emergency Department at Twin County Regional Hospital provides care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is staffed and equipped to provide emergency medical services for patients within the Carroll County, Grayson County, and Galax City areas, as well as other surrounding areas of Virginia.
With around-the-clock physician staffing, the ER is able to respond to medical and surgical emergencies and initiate life-saving procedures in all types of emergency situations. At the Twin County Regional Hospital Emergency Department, we believe in total patient and family care while providing excellent customer service-this is our goal for every patient visit.
Our staff of caring physicians and nurses is highly trained to provide competent, compassionate care even during the most critical situations. TCRH's Emergency Department has been serving patients since 1970, and we currently treat over 18,000 patients a year.
Patients who present to the ED arrive with varying levels of illness, from minor to critical. If a patient presents with a non-emergent condition, the nursing staff quickly triages the patient and determines treatment priority and placement within the Emergency Department.
Once the patient is placed in the treatment area, the Emergency Department M.D. evaluates the patient and determines an appropriate plan of care. If a patient presents with an acute emergency, is unstable, or has a life-threatening illness or injury, the patient is immediately placed in the treatment area.
A multidisciplinary team, led by the ED Physician, performs emergency evaluation, treatment, and stabilization of critical care patients until disposition. Radiology and Laboratory services are adjacent to the Emergency Department, allowing our patients immediate access to important diagnostic services.
