When Twin Rivers Technologies manufactures, it makes no bones about it. The company produces oleochemicals and other additives for food-manufacturing customers in North America and abroad. Its products include approximately 40 fatty acids, glycerin, and methyl esters in food and industrial grades; its food-grade products are made from edible tallow, cottonseed, sunflower and canola seeds, and soybeans. Twin Rivers also produces vegetable-oil-based biodiesel and ethanol. The company operations in the US and Canada. Twin Rivers is a subsidiary of the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda), a Malaysian govenment-owed agency located in Kuala Lumpur.
Felda, which started out as a poverty-eradication program, has added commercial operations and has grown to be the world's largest owner and manager of plantation land, with 2008 sales of more than RM819 million ($231 million). It is actively investing in operations that will expand its global presence in its core plantation and related businesses, the acquisition of Twin Rivers being part of this strategy.
