Unloader (Current Employee) –  Louisville, KYMay 21, 2017
A typical work day can be easy depending on how many workers show up, also how much information is given to me by management at it the beginning of the day. The workplace culture is a wonderful thing because the are so many different cultures that work at UPS and everyone is easy to talk to. The hardest part of this job is that there is no set schedule the start time change day to day and from week to week, but the part that can't be beat is the people hands down.
Pros
Great healthcare
Cons
you have to work a year before you can use the healthcare

UPS Driver Helper (Former Employee) –  Aurora, ILMay 21, 2017
Help deliver packages at a quick pace. Assist with heavy packages that need more then one person to carry. Ensure packages are delivered properly and safely. Later in the day, organize what is left and check to see if any missing packages earlier are there or not (some packages that come in around this time of year are scanned but not placed in the van due to not enough room, so some get left behind and are delivered the next day, and if they were in the vehicle make sure they get delivered).

Program Manager (Former Employee) –  Mahwah, NJMay 21, 2017
Nothing much to say. Very formal and not very flexible. Your manager can be very caring or very strict. Formal dress code and no facial hair. Work life is manageable depending on position.

Sorter/ loader/ unloader (Former Employee) –  South San Francisco, CAMay 21, 2017
The job was very fast paced and physically demanding, as you are required to put scan and load a thousand boxes into the trailer in 4 hours. Speed and accuracy was very important, and they stress body mechanics to prevent injury, but most people ended up sacrificing body mechanics to ensure their production was efficient.

Loader / Sorter (Former Employee) –  Atlanta, GAMay 21, 2017
I worked in the main distribution shipping hub in Atlanta, so that means I sorted packages and loaded trucks for delivery to other smaller hubs. The job is extremely physically demanding, and because it is a warehouse environment, you are exposed to extreme temperatures.
However, you are fairly compensated for your time and effort, and good work is recognized. The company does give raises based in merit and the union is strong and works hard for the employees. They run 4 short shifts, so you can work part time hours (but still get full benefits) or you can work extra shifts if you desire. All the warehouse jobs are hard, but there is room for advancement fi you are motivated. The hardest part of the job was keeping pace in extremely hot or cold temps. The most enjoyable was that the people I worked with were always up for good conversation while we worked.
Pros
Opportunity for pay increase and advancement, Good benefits, Job security
Cons
Part time hours, Physically demanding, Harsh environment temprature wise

Package Handler (Former Employee) –  Austin, TXMay 21, 2017
Its just a typical package handling job with great benefits. Moving up isn't to bad but managers like to act like semi-drill sergeants but never really help out themselves. Some do though and those are the managers to work with.

The benefits and advancement opportunities are worth the stress of the job on both your mind and body.

That's all there is too it. Suck it up and do the job.
