Working for URS
Human Resources Coordinator (Current Employee), Stockton, UT – June 17, 2013
Pros: great benefits, chance for advancement
Cons: they are closing
The only reason I am looking for a new career is because URS is in the process of closing. It has been great to be a part of such a great company. It means alot to me to be part of a comapany that is VPP (Voluntary Protection Program) safety is our number one concern here. URS also pays for further education. Being in HR I have seen all the different – more... employees that have continued their future. – less

The work place was very asture and very hostile.
Site Manager - Baghdad Diplomatic Support Center (Former Employee), Baghdad – June 14, 2013
Pros: excellent benefit package
Cons: hostile environment
We normally worked 12 hours a day 7 days a week. Each day was very unpredictable based on the short or immediate task requirements because of the nature of the mission.

If I had to rate the management I would give them 3 stars for effort.

The hardest part of the job was being away from family and the hostility towards Americans.

Providing the necessary – more... resources to protect the folks working through out Iraq. – less

Horrible company worked at KSC
Engineering (Former Employee), KSC, FL – June 14, 2013
Pros: awful management, hostile work environment, not a team environment
Cons: made decent money long enough to find a healthy work environment
I had to find a job after my employer went bankrupt. URS was the second company that offered me a position. I took them because the pay was dramatically better then the other private company.

I worked for then for one and half years. It was pretty much total hell the whole time. Me and one other employee started at the same time. We were pretty much – more... put into isolation since day one. The manager and GM were both ex-miltary. They were not management material. But either they had moved up to a pay scale that required they become a manger, or had an inside track with the leadership.

As far as the co-workers go, If you weren't military they didn't want anything to do with you. If you had a degree they basically tried to show you up, and make you feel stupid.

The manager actually told us that if he doesn't like you he will make your life a living hell, until you resign. The last employee walked off the job after a few weeks, leaving his credentials on the managers desk. It was a classic hostile work environment, with the manager and his cronies that talk to other employees about you in front of others, sometimes right in front of them about you. Very unprofessional. But they know how to cover their tracks, they are professionals at that.

He had pulled the same thing with me and another person. We both managed to escape, I left for a much much better job, the other just went and quit without new work.

The GM wasn't any better, he had gotten complaints about the manager and ignored the pleas to demote or fire him. Before I left he was to be demoted. But he still acted the same way as a non functioning manager.

Life is so much better not being there, I work for a group that appreciates my job skills, and loyalty.

KSC was a living hell, the old military folks desperately needed the job, for the most part its the only job they had that wasn't in the military. They would always say they could never make the kind of money they made there again.

The manager would apply for jobs on the outside, only to be ignored after the interviews. – less

Operations Compliance Representative (Current Employee), Stockton, UT – June 10, 2013
I have worked a rotating shift for the past 8 years, working independently most of this time. The most difficult part of the job is the night shifts. I have enjoyed meeting many new people while working here, I am truly going to miss being a part of the team here.

Pros: n/a
Cons: n/a
Typical day at work its normal, like any other day.Ive learned a great much of things that involve alot of different parts of the military and its assets.Management needs to reconstruct its infilstructure and change its personel. As for co workers some are ok to work with and some just dont really care. They just come to the job just for a check.Their – more... is nothing hard about the job.The name of the game come to work, because your dependability its the most important thing when you represent the military and the company you work for.Its an experience for me being from new york something different and new.Its been a pleasure working for them.Thank you for giving me the opportunity. – less

Excellent company
Mechanical Engineer ET6 (Current Employee), CA – June 5, 2013
Pros: excellent enviornment and pay
Cons: job security
Typical day at work is hit the ground running!
Very busy which makes the day go fast.
I have learned Volumes about design and development and production engineering.
The management is reasonable in their expectations but demand excellence.
My co-workers and I were a TEAM in the purest sence.
Every day (in engineering ) we were hit with things to do – more... and adjust and modify. Sometimes you worked right up to the wire.

The most enjoyable part of the job was a sense of accomplishment. – less

Executive Secretary (Former Employee), Commerce City, CO – June 5, 2013
I had a great boss and wonderful co-workers. The company has changed hands twice in the 18 years that I worked for them and has grown to be a very large, multi-national company. They care about their employees and have many great employee enrichment programs.

Pros: great management team, awesome coworkers, busy
Cons: not much room for advancement
A typical workday can be hectic but fulfulling. I have learned to work all aspects of project controls and project management. The management team is helpful and insiteful and coworkers are always willing to help. The hardest part of the job is keeping up with the work. The best part of the job is staying busy and the day goes by fast....

Serious work environment
Sr. Administrative Assistant (Former Employee), San Antonio, TX FIEP – May 30, 2013
Pros: working hours from 7-4
Work days were Monday-Friday. I was assigned to front desk receptionists duties the last 3 months I was employed. My assigned work then included many additional duties. I learned to use Share Point, and to read and understand the task order RFP and contracts, and prepare deliverables. The management was professional and serious. I enjoyed my co workers – more... but nothing was done to promote team building. The most difficult part of the job was watching the back log or inventory of work disappear. Our cost center depended completely on Air Force contracts so not having enough to do was the hardest part. The most enjoyable part of my job was planning partnering sessions between clients and URS. – less

Demanding and rewarding place to work.
Automation Engineering Manager (Former Employee), Whitehall, AR – May 29, 2013
A typical day at work consisted of 20% administrative, 15% meetings, with the remainder spread across planning, and managing projects, and workflow. I worked with a great group of committed people. The most difficult part of the job was managing and problem solving unforeseen issues. This was also the most enjoyable part of the job. Not only solving – more... the immediate problems but putting the required technical, administrative controls, or procedures in place to solve the problem long term. – less
