Innovators in products and process within Foodservice Distribution.
Region Category Manager (Former Employee) –  Dallas, TXApril 26, 2017
US Foods began a journey in 2012 to differentiate itself from its top competitors within the Foodservice Distribution industry. Leadership established a clearly defined culture around the company mission to become a great American food company. Introduction of innovative proprietary products and a new approach to sales and category management became the cornerstones of its strategy. Investment in information technology and marketing supported implementation and execution of these strategies. This created an exciting environment with opportunity for growth for associates both tenured and new to the organization.

Enjoyed working there for my first 2 years. Then the whole workplace culture changed. Very negative compared to what it had been. Many employees lost their jobs due to downsizing. Very stressful environment. Poor management.
Pros

Territory Manager (Current Employee) –  St. Louis, MOApril 24, 2017
Calling on potential and current customers to grow you territory. You have great quality of life as you set your own schedule. Hardest part of the job is cold calling and competing with other distributors in a burnt market.

After twenty five years at this company I learned all aspects of Sales and Distribution. Many companies were acquired which distracted the overall focus of the company.

Procurment Administrative Assistant (Former Employee) –  Phoenix, AZApril 19, 2017
It was friendly for the most part, busy, fast paced, never a dull moment. They where open to new ideas, and let you find better ways to get the job done. The hardest part of my job was when I offered to come in later to help another associate meet their daily tasks. The most enjoyable part of the job was having a voice in how my job was managed and my work was appreciated. Communication was awesome.

Company in need of overhaul
Not Disclosed (Current Employee) –  CaliforniaApril 19, 2017
This company needs to come into the present with Management. Very old school style. Technology tools are lacking for departments outside of Sales. Focus on quality working conditions is not a priority for this company. Centralization of work leaves development and opportunity for field offices low to non existent. Company is trying but field offices are resisting change. Culture ideas sound good but not executed well.

Forklift Operator, Night Selector (Former Employee) –  OKC, OKApril 19, 2017
I don't have much to say about this company. They start off great then when you are there for a while they start to treat you unfairly on you like you are a rookie selector at anything you do there

Physically demanding
Order Selector (Former Employee) –  Topeka, KSApril 18, 2017
My experience wasn't so good here. Very minimal training for a job like this. I learned almost everything the hard way. The worst part is the length of the shifts. They tell you it's 8 to 10 hour shifts but it's usually at least 10 hours. They don't give you very much time to do each order, so you must work very fast. I would not recommend this job to anyone.
Pros
Good pay
Cons
Very physical, no recovery time

My commute to work was difficult due to traffic.

Work that could have been done from home was not allowed when management changed.

Management was rigid.

The most enjoyable part of my job was working with customers.

Night Warehouse Selector (Former Employee) –  Perth Amboy, NJApril 15, 2017
This job is physically demanding with long hours. My first 3 weeks i dropped 15 pounds and my body was constantly in pain, but after about a month and some experience you will get use to it. Typical night starts at 6pm and will end no earlier than 3am on a good night, but typically expect to be there until 5am. There are nights especially Sundays and Thursadys you can expect to be home anywhere from 6am to 7am. One benefit of this is the amount of over-time you will receive which helps when it comes to making good money. Without the over time you would not make much money here. The pay rate at this warehouse starts at $15.45/hr and after 6 months IF you make the union it goes up $2.00. At this warehouse you hit top pay in 5 years which is around $24.00/hr. Some of the senior selectors make up to $65,000 a year so there is potential for good money if your are up for the hard work. Payday here is on Thursday and is biweekly with the option of direct deposit or check and benefits dont start until you make union. Before you make union you will work Sunday through Friday, but friday is only a few hours and once you make union Fridays will no longer be mandatory. Your expected performance at this location in order to make union is 100% which in my opinion is not obtainable due to the size of the warehouse, the number of employees that crowd the aisles when you are picking and management and in order to make union you will be a probationary employee for 6 months before you can be considered. On your 3rd week you are expected to maintain a 50% performance rate and then every  more... week that percent goes up 5 until you reach 100%. Lunch is at 9:30 to 10:15 and is not paid and you get two paid 15 minute breaks at 1 am and at 4am. You will see the senior selectors not take lunch or breaks in order to maintain there 100% performance and in this specific warehouse its probably the only way to maintain this 100% performance. Management expects you to maintain your performance and you can be fired for consistently missing your performance which can be frustrating because only about 5 people are actually hitting these numbers. If you want to make this place a career and make good money work as a night slector and get your Class A Commercial license and apply for the driver trainee position, drivers there start off at $215 a day amd get paid by the case, senior drivers can make up to six figures. Some people choose to become a supervisor for night slectors but they are salary based and they work longer hours than the selectors and they make less than order selectors.  less
