Started off great..Went downhill from there
Security Officer (Former Employee), New England –
Pros: reliable weekly pay, accommodating supervisor, fast-paced work site
Cons: no advancement or year-round work opportunities, pay reductions, lack of proper uniform outfitting
Seasonal job started off great in my first year. Had complete uniforms, received holiday pay on company holiday schedules. Area Supervisor was fair and accommodating when it came to scheduling me off for Christmas and other personal/family related issues. Client management and Area Supervisor was supportive and giving accolades that first year (pat's – more...  on the back, praises for job well done). Enjoyed working the first season. Received a 50 cent raise in the second year but all went downhill in year two and hit bottom in year three. By then the company replaced the DM for the region who rescinded our raise, reneged on holiday o/t rate pay and refused to outfit the officer's with proper uniforms due to what i understood was 'cost' issues.

The overall work area was fun, challenging and never-dull. Only issue I had was with some of the client employees who did too much tattle-telling on the guards (usually over trivial stuff) and most of them treated you as if they were your 'boss'. At times felt like I was back in grade school. I considered myself a professional who did went about my work very competently, Soon, the accolades from the client management became non-existent no matter how well we as a group performed. A good deal of empty promises, Two months before being laid-off, I was promised a year round position only to realize I was being 'appeased'. The AS was stringing me along till the end of the season in fear of my resigning, so don't count on management/supervision to be honest in all areas. They will feed you a line to keep you on due to the turnover from year to year. But it's a job with a check and not much more. – less

ok to work for
Security Officer (Former Employee), New York, NY –
Pros: 40 hours, free uniforms
Cons: low pay, no benefits, constant site changes
Free uniforms.
but they constantly had to find new sites because they would often lose the contracts with companies their guards worked for.

They wage varied depending on what site you were working at.

It is a legitimate company that offers a steady paycheck. Never had any problems with calculation of hours and pay. Paychecks were always on time.

Average
Security Officer (Former Employee), Louisville, Kentucky –
Simply put, this is an average job. Low wages, minimal opportunity for advancement, minimal support due to lack of a branch office in Louisville.

Fun work place
Security Guard for National Guard Armory (Former Employee), Waterloo, IA –
A typcial work day for me would be the over night shift, I would come in take over the keys and cell phone and review of the night. I would make sure building was locked up, lights where turned off, coffee pots used by soliders where turned off if left on. I would check alarms to make sure nothing was sounding or things werent out of place. I learned – more...  more about the men who fight for our country getting to work closely with them and seeing some of the things they get to do everyday. My co-workers were great to work with and always had respect for one another. The hardest part was at first staying awake for the overnight shift and leaving. The most enjoyable part was the people I worked with our client the National Guard, it gave me much more resepct for the men and women fighting for our country. – less

Metaphor for Life
Security Officer (Current Employee), Detroit, MI –
Depending on your perspective this could be a great addition to your resume' or not. Personally, I have garnered a ton of good skills and competencies while working for this company, I tend to want to be the best at whatever I'm doing so I made sure to be proactive about my job duties and extended learning. I guess it's a metaphor for life if you put – more...  in the work you'll bare fruit, if you don't the seed will never prosper. – less

Client Based Satisfaction
Loss Prevention Officer (Former Employee), Tampa, FL –
Pros: if you understand the concept of the job, you will do well.
Cons: breaks, no benefits, high turnover rate.
Second shift, based on client request. I learned that no matter how long you are with a company and how well you do, when they have no need for you, they will discharge you without regards to all the benefits you provided not only to the company itself but the client they serve. There was rarely any communication between co-workers. The hardest part – more...  of the job was getting appreciation from the client for all the services that were administered and potential losses that were thwarted. The most enjoyable part of the job was that I really enjoyed what I did as long as I did it. Client policy was restrictive to the overall effectiveness of the job. – less
