Pros: reliable weekly pay, accommodating supervisor, fast-paced work site
Cons: no advancement or year-round work opportunities, pay reductions, lack of proper uniform outfitting
Seasonal job started off great in my first year. Had complete uniforms, received holiday pay on company holiday schedules. Area Supervisor was fair and accommodating when it came to scheduling me off for Christmas and other personal/family related issues. Client management and Area Supervisor was supportive and giving accolades that first year (pat's
– more... on the back, praises for job well done). Enjoyed working the first season. Received a 50 cent raise in the second year but all went downhill in year two and hit bottom in year three. By then the company replaced the DM for the region who rescinded our raise, reneged on holiday o/t rate pay and refused to outfit the officer's with proper uniforms due to what i understood was 'cost' issues.
The overall work area was fun, challenging and never-dull. Only issue I had was with some of the client employees who did too much tattle-telling on the guards (usually over trivial stuff) and most of them treated you as if they were your 'boss'. At times felt like I was back in grade school. I considered myself a professional who did went about my work very competently, Soon, the accolades from the client management became non-existent no matter how well we as a group performed. A good deal of empty promises, Two months before being laid-off, I was promised a year round position only to realize I was being 'appeased'. The AS was stringing me along till the end of the season in fear of my resigning, so don't count on management/supervision to be honest in all areas. They will feed you a line to keep you on due to the turnover from year to year. But it's a job with a check and not much more. – less
