Awesome Environment
Graphic Designer (Former Employee), McLean, VA – March 28, 2013
Pros: great cafeteria, beautiful building
I had a great summer internship at USA TODAY. I had the opportunity to work closely with skilled designers through the brands exciting relaunch. I would suggest anyone take the opportunity to learn and create with this team if given the opportunity!

Was a very good business to work at before the restructure.
Sr Night Operations Manager (Former Employee), Wixom, MI – March 12, 2013
Pros: awards presentation at company luncheon.
Cons: working the night shift.
A typical day at work was checking truck times, visiting drop locations, make sure all drops cleared, perform route audits, rack repair and completing daily reports.
That all jobs are not created equal and in this case management was very easy to get along with.
The hardest part of the job was working the night shift.
Visiting the drops and helping – more... the carriers with anything they may need to get the job done. – less

Eh.
Account Manager (Former Employee), Morrisville, NC – February 19, 2013
Pros: work from home
Cons: selling a dying art, unrealistic goals and no desire to change things up.
My boss was great, but that's about it. The lay off process is a nightmare and they have no loyalty to their younger employees.

USA TODAY
Director of Distribution (Former Employee), Great Plains – January 29, 2013
Pros: teambuilding with staff
Cons: being reactive to problems
USA TODAY brought a unique set of challenges each day, having a high sense of urgency was very typical in this environment. I learned how to prioritize and work efficiently. Furthermore, I enjoyed the training they provided from Facilitation Management to forecasting inventory. The hardest part of my position was to get my staff engaged in their positions – more... each day. I had to be creative in designing our sales programs to keep motivation high. I also enjoyed being creative in designing our creative material and working with our customers. – less

A company still in transition...
Sr. Manager (Former Employee), Mc Lean, VA – December 6, 2012
Pros: great cafeteria, great modern building, great co-workers, amazing hr
Cons: outdated and outpaced company vision, average salary and dismal benefits for a company of that size
My experience was symptomatic of the group that's still in transition from a very print centric mentality (old school). One foot in the digital world with a very competent digital team, and the other firmly steeped in the past, holding the company back thanks to the marketing team. The latest re-branding is but an example of the uninspiring leadership – more... marketing suffers from. I would NOT recommend the USA TODAY marketing environment to people I care for. – less

Reliable company, good co-workers
Wholesaler (Former Employee), Fargo, ND – August 29, 2012
Pros: you set your own standard for sales.
Cons: no benefits or compensation for miles. use your own vehicle.
The drop-off time was approximately 2:10 a.m., and was surprisingly consistent, although the truck came from several hundred miles away. Communication is good, so if the driver got a flat, we were told about it, and when to expect him. Co-workers look-out for each other, and do not hesitate to do double routes, if car troubles, or other emergencies – more... arise. The manager is accessible by phone, night or day, and willing to offer any assistance needed. There are no benefits, and you are responsible for how much you earn, depending on sales. There are opportunities to expand your route. It is an excellent way to earn an extra $400 a month -- only an hour or two in the early morning, which can easily be done before school or other work. – less

short hours , full pay
Sales Agent (Former Employee), Hampton, VA – May 3, 2012
Pros: a few hours a day to work
Cons: no benifits, being out in bad weather, pay
A typical day for me was to start early in the morning at 2am and finish by 6:30am. I learned that time was of importance to have newspapers delievered in stores and to homes before people awaken for the day.I managed my own self for the most or managed any one I had working my route. There wasn't really a hard part of my job you just had to do your – more... work. The most enjoyable part was to beat the clock and accomplish my duties – less
