UCare was founded in 1984 by the Department of Family Practice and Community Health at the University of Minnesota. Today, we are an independent, nonprofit health plan that is recognized as one of the state's leading plans. In fact, in 2007, UCare's Medicare Advantage plan ranked in the top 13% of health plans nationwide for outstanding performance.
