Charged by the restructured management team with a variety of member communications, I not only worked the phone, I also wrote web content, permission marketing campaigns and advertising copy. My mission was to present an array of new options to pre-existing members. Most members were disgruntled over the change in management and resisted coming to our office for presentations. It was my job to entice them. Expectations to maintain quota created a high pressure sales environment combined with the intricacy of maintaining a professional and empathetic demeanor.
My boss was a joy to work for and we still remain friends to this day. Primarily, I was a virtual employee working from my home office, however I did attend monthly in person sales meetings and events.
The hardest part of the job was experiencing the off season slow down. We worked within the camping industry for the Pacific Northwest and in winter there often was no work.
What I enjoyed most about my position with Ultimate Marketing Group was the positive and constructive criticism I received from my boss. I felt comfortable going to him with a challenge and always received positive feedback. I have considered him my mentor now for many years.
