Unisource was a great company and one of the 2 biggest in the industry. They consolidated with another company to create Veritiv. The company was a little too management heavy and direction seemed to get lost.
Was in an outside sales position with Unisource for 24 years. Enjoyed being in control of my own success with hard work and never give up attitude. Difficult when an account was lost but more rewarding when picking up clients more often.
Overall Unisource is a good company to work for. The majority of the co-workers are great and very easy to talk to. Considering I spend more time at work than I do at home, I would say that Unisource is a second home to me. There is monthly birthday cake, quarterly activities of some sort whether it be a catered lunch or some sort of facility activity.
luncheons, activities, bonuses
depending on the market at the time there is little room for advancement
Accountant I (Current Employee) – New York, NY – May 28, 2012
This is a gretsa place to work. The staff and management are very fair and easily approachable. You are challenged to solve any issues that come your way. Everyone is on the same page to make the company a great place to work.
Awesome company until Georgia Pacific/Bain took control
Key Account Customer Service Rep (Former Employee) – Pleasanton – November 15, 2011
The core of the company should survive what Georgia Pacific and Bain are trying to do to it. If so, they are an awesome group of people to work with. The culture of this industry is one of helpful assistance. I see the call centers being untimately reduced down to one which will be unfortunate, except for the local businesses to that single location.
best attitudes of people i've ever worked with.
management is continually cutting. soon, no product left on shelves.
