The Youth Care Worker works closely with the Group Home Supervisor to provide nurturing, direct care and supervision of adolescent males in a basic level group home facility working a two days on, two days off and everyother weekend schedule with overnight stays in the group home. This will include parenting, managing and guiding children physically, spiritually, educationally, socially and emotionally. This person is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timely completion of daily activity logs, medication check sheets, and Medicaid Reimbursement Forms. This person may assist with the distribution of weekly allowance monies, and assist residents as needed with homework assignments. The Youth Care Worker will transport and supervise residents during activities such as shopping, doctor appointments, church visits, field trips and other activities related to their growth and development.
High school diploma or equivalent (GED Certificate) required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Six (6) months experience working with children, youth and/or families in a therapeutic environment required. Previous experience working with teenagers preferred. Proficiency in computer use and understanding of basic word processing and spreadsheet software required. Physical health that is adequate to participate, when appropriate, in children’s activities and the ability to lift and carry up to forty (40) pounds is required. Must be able to sleep overnight at the group home. Must be twenty-one (21) years of age. Valid driver’s license from state of residence required. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing using the English language required.
