Fun Place to work
eDiscovery (Current Employee) –  Overland Park, KSMay 22, 2017
The management is nice and has a open door policy. The work life balance is great. Overtime is not expected. People are very helpful. Free Starbucks coffee and tea.

Typical environment
Contract Attorney (Former Employee) –  Atlanta, GAApril 12, 2017
Nothing out of the ordinary. This is a typical corporate environment with the same difficulties and benefits associated with that environment. Truly nothing special but nothing awful.

Growing company dealing with growing pains but doing so fairly well
eDiscovery Specialist (Former Employee) –  Overland Park, KSApril 12, 2017
My experience is likely to be atypical as I had a technical role in a small department. The growth and pace of change at the company is putting some people at the edge of or beyond the scope of their abilities. Not a good situation if that describes your immediate reports, so my experience was mostly unpleasant within my department. Overall I think there are enough key players to help them muscle through it.
Pros
A strong core and genuinely concermed upper management
Cons
Lack of KSAs abound in critical areas for this growing company

Project Attorney/E-Discovery (Current Employee) –  Blue Ash, OHMarch 14, 2017
Pleasant people, convenient location in Blue Ash, variety of case work from banking to copyright to pharma, can be steady at times, flexible schedule. Biggest downside is low pay.

Low pay, but they'll keep you working. Very flexible work hours, free parking, some opportunities for advancement. The management is ok, they generally leave you alone.

Easy going and flexible place to work
Project Attorney (Current Employee) –  Columbus, OHJanuary 16, 2017
UnitedLex is probably the best Document Review job an attorney can get. While most Doc Review companies over-hire and do mass layoffs every few weeks or months, UL schedules its workflow very well and makes sure to keep as many people employed as long as they can.

Supervisors are very friendly and always willing to help. The company culture is easy going, but professional. Also, great place for working parents, solo practitioners, or recent law grads looking for other work because UL is very flexible with hours. Free CLEs are also available from time to time.

Only downside is that there are no benefits (or very little) worth mentioning until you get higher up in the company. Otherwise, no significant complaints.
Pros
Flexible hours, good corporate culture
Cons
No benefits for project attorneys

Nice people with inadequate experience for project review
document reviewer (Former Employee) –  Atlanta, GAApril 7, 2016
I have more than 20 years discovery experience, signed on to see how they roll. They don't. Thoroughly nice people, but grossly inefficient in their work. Lots of chatter, mostly not work related. Poorly targeted searches, and the "senior" reviewers don't seem to have a real grasp of the value - good or bad - of any individual document. Company needs a few people who have actually litigated something.
Pros
Free parking, flexible on hours
Cons
Located at busiest intersection in Atlanta.

Basic contract document review
Contract Attorney (Current Employee) –  Richmond, VAMarch 16, 2016
The office environment is usually pretty laid back. It's not stressful for the most part and everyone is friendly. Management is sometimes over the top with enforcement of our phone use, which is supposed to be permitted in short periods of time while working. It's a very flexible job with a reasonable weekly minimum requirement and the company is good about holding onto you if you do good work and want to continue to stay here even though your project may end.
Pros
Flexible hours, friendly environment
Cons
No benefits, PTO is terrible

UnitedLex is poorly managed by young attorneys with little to no real world experience.
Project Attorney (Former Employee) –  Blue Ash, OHMarch 1, 2016
My co-workers and the flexibility of the office hours were the most positive job attributes. The managers are under alot of stress and this trickled down to the project attorneys. You can expect to receive no feedback on your performance, other than no longer being able to reach recruiters, leaving you no room for improvement.
Pros
Flexible office hours
Cons
Poorly managed

Great company to work for as a project attorney. Friendly atmosphere. Approachable management. No real job security as it is a contract position.

UL - Great Place
APM (Former Employee) –  New York, NYJanuary 25, 2016
The people at UL seem to be on top of and ahead of new changes in technologies in the legal world. Though my time with them was short, I was treated with respect and I have no doubt that they will continue to excel in the world of e-discovery.

Document review Attorney/Contractor (Current Employee) –  Overland Park, KSOctober 1, 2015
United Lex fulfills a need within the legal community, and employees many attorneys looking for meaningful work and contributions to a process. They provide all the tools necessary to get the assignment completed.

This type of contract work is interesting and provides a decent hourly rate for the work performed.
