Upon the phone interview it was explained to me that I would be working 6 days a week from 2pm to 8:30pm. Coming from a roofing job this sounded wonderful. It was explained that we could travel up to 150 miles from our home location.
This is not a problem for me since I was use to traveling the state as is for the jobs.
The hardest part is the communication,
Set up starts at 12 to 12:30pm on the first day of that church
Any other day you can be there by 1:30pm.
The most difficult part of the job is the management. As of November 2013 there is one president, two managers and one possible new manager.
The system of how it works is not well presented. You're not directly informed that there is a church consultant who sets up the appointments. And how it works. They do train you in both departments. My personal experience is "train"..Thankfully, the co worker I worked with trained me well for the photography. As for sales, they do not go by strict rules unless your sales are low.
From time to time you get to here on how well someone did in the company. What isn't said is what church they worked, what area they worked at. This company does not look at the Unemployment rate and economy of the area you are working in.
No one in management completely understands the terms "we just had our photos", "we have a personal photographer" or other reasons why a church member would not want to buy their portraits. There is three different scripts in the book, You may use any of these scripts, however you can not alter it until your sales average is 70.00 per sit. On a daily basis you will sit between 25 to 40 people per day. From singles to any size of family.
I do love working for this job, mainly because I enjoy the photographer who trained me and I was working with. We click quite well.
On average you will make decent money. I have always had a check around 200.00. You are reimbursed for your gas, motels, and other expenses. Only cost to you is food and clothing.
If you live in a good economy, and you are able to make the sales above 1,500 to 2,000 you may make either 7 to 8 percent commission. Unless you are considered a "shoot and show team" then you make 14 percent of your sales. So you would only need to sell 1,000 dollars a day. At the prices they sell them at, it is quite easy to reach that goal. The hardest part is making the sale, and being at the right church or having good salesmanship skills.
This is a better company to work for than Owen Mills or Lifetouch as the sales are not as pushy. If the client says no, we understand no.
The hugest issue is the communication.
If you know people throughout the state, the travel is quite enjoyable you can meet alot of new people, friends and save a lot since your gas is replaced.
They do not do background checks, they do not check your Driving record, you do not have to submit any ifnormation about your vehicle.
