Universal Hospital Services, Inc. (UHS) is a provider of medical equipment outsourcing and services to the healthcare industry in the United States. It operates in three segments. The Medical Equipment Outsourcing segment provides customers with the use of movable medical equipment and UHS maintains the equipment for customers by performing preventative – more... maintenance, repairs, cleaning and testing, and maintaining certain reporting records. The Technical and Professional Services segment offers a range of inspection, preventative maintenance, repair, logistic and consulting services through UHS' team of technicians and professionals. The Medical Equipment Sales and Remarketing segment buys, sources, remarkets and disposes pre-owned medical equipment for its customers; provides sales and distribution of specialty medical equipment, and offers its customers disposable items that are used on a single-use basis. On December 22, 2005, it acquired Innovative Healthcare Solutions, Inc.
