Poor Leadership
Technician (Former Employee) –  Indianapolis, INSeptember 5, 2017
The local branch does not support independent thought or value individual differences. This branch only values bottom line budget even if it means compromising the needs of employees or customers.

Fast pace and lots of walking but good job
HST (Current Employee) –  Hershey, PASeptember 4, 2017
This is contract work but being full-time with UHS does come with benefits. Management team is great but strict due to the hospital environment. The hardest part of the job is keeping equipment orders straight and planning the best way to make the time goals. Lots of walking. Most enjoyable part of the job is knowing that we are helping people by getting the medical equipment they need.

Management team does a decent job recognizing those who go above and beyond. The team members are great to work with for the most part; some of the loafers who hide when work needs to be done slip through the cracks...advise to leadership is fire those people and replace with team players so that work is more balanced.

Challenging but fun
HST (Current Employee) –  Hershey, PASeptember 4, 2017
In the HST position we supply medical equipment to nurses. The orders can be intense at times but this is limited to when nurses are changing shifts. It's either really busy or slow and most shifts see both sides so time management and priotization is important during the busy times.

The new management team has weeded out most of the lazy people so having a balanced team where everyone is contributing is much better. Scheduling is hit or miss due to several senior employees working the the best shift but management does approve all time off request and lets us swap shifts. The hospital is open 24/7 so be prepared to work weekends and holidays from time to time.

We get free lunches and gift cards from management when we hit work goals. Overall the management team is fair and try's to make the work as fun as possible under the conditions.
Pros
Free lunches and gift cards
Cons
Weekends and holidays requires

Great opportunity for someone looking to get into the Surgical setting. UHS provides on the job training on all surgical equipment provided and allows you to advance at your own pace.

Not what I was looking for
Account Executive (Current Employee) –  Detroit, MIJuly 11, 2017
Most of time was not spent selling, or in front of customers, but filling out meaningless spreadsheets and repetitive conference calls. I had high hopes, but they disappeared rapidly.

I hated this place
Hospital Service Technician (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXJuly 7, 2017
Little to no hope of moving up.
There's always issues with equipment, either a huge shortage or large amounts of equipment that was broken and could not be used.
Management never was consistent with employees and how they handled misconduct or praising hard work.

Hospital Service Technician (Former Employee) –  Hershey, PAJuly 6, 2017
If you want a high stress work environment this is the job for you. The process in which this job works is impracticable. Always expected to do more for less.
Pros
Getting to see what working in a hospital is like
Cons
Pay sucks, pagers will drive you insane, not enough time or co-workers to get the job done in one shift.

Easy job, easy money. Good leadership and flexible schedule. I like the people. Constant butt kissing as a account manager. Not fair work load for all people.

A very mismanaged company
Biomedical Engineer (Former Employee) –  CaliforniaJune 3, 2017
Being a national company they are an absolute joke. The branch managers have zero biomed knowledge yet manage biomeds which cause problems. They get business not by promoting a quality product but by appealing to purchasing departments with low prices. Buyer beware if you use UHS

None
Cons
Having them on your resume is detrimental

Strategic Account Executive (Current Employee) –  Minneapolis, MNMay 30, 2017
Solid company structure despite recent changes with new executive leadership. Long standing employees that are reliant on old solutions sales process. Outdated technologies make it difficult to compete with large healthcare solution providers.

Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) –  Duluth, MNMay 29, 2017
This was a good starter job for a newly wed. It was something that I could grow into, and it was flexible enough that I didn't just work 8 to 4. It was a good starter job.
Pros
Flexible and Close

The pay is low for the type of work you do. New Management do not have it together, always issues. Their priority is you making them money and not patient care and horrible training and communication.
Pros
Working in operating rooms through out the region.
Cons
Half of your job is driving and delivering.

LASER TECHNICIAN (Current Employee) –  6625 West 78th St # 300 Minneapolis, MN 55439May 15, 2017
UHS is a great company to work for..A typical day at work would include driving to two or more facilities throughout the day to run laser for surgery. I would say the hard part is dealing with angry doctors and being stuck in traffic..I recommend this type of job to someone who likes spontaneous work because everyday you are somewhere new and dealing with different people.
