Good place to work and have a future
Lab Supply Room Supply Room Clerk (Former Employee), Cleveland, OH – April 17, 2013
Pros: working in my own space
Cons: the pay scale for the job could have been highger for what was expected.
I was lucky to work in a one person office, so I knew what I had to do. I learned how to deal with many different types of co-workers over the phone who worked in our outside clinics which 99% of them I never met in person, but formed a relationship on the phone. The hardest part of the job was to keep everything moving smoothly and keep our outside – more... clinics happy and supplied, but I achieved that. The most enjoyable part of the job was my interaction with many different types of people, not to mention different requests on a daily basis. – less

OK if you play the politics
Finance department (Former Employee), Cleveland, OH – March 5, 2013
Pros: good life work balance
Cons: uncertain future, limited ability to grow your career
Very good learning opportunities but very limited advancement opportunities unless you're really good at playing politics. Very uncertain future, you can feel the ax hanging on top of your head.

UH
Mental Health Worker (Current Employee), Richmond Hts, OH – February 16, 2013
I really enjoy working for UH. My typical work day keeps me on my toes. I'm busy, and the day is over before I know it!

I continue to learn about mental illness and I love every second of my job.

The bigges let-down is the lack of chance for advancement. I am stuck in my job and it is just a stepping stone.

While I love my co-workers and the challenge. – more... I'm looking for something more career-path oriented. – less

Shay2 – February 22, 2013

So true I work at UH as well and not chance of advancement ot growth and they do not want to pay you. If you have a degree they rather not pay you for what you are worth and pay someone else the lowest pay. You will get stuck if you do not look else where.. I love the people I work with and this is my second time coming back so I know lots of people. In my area management plays favortism and do not write the folks up that are late and call off a lot and just do what they want while you work your tail off. I have been looking and getting turned down with and automatic email for jobs I know I can do. I will be looking outside of UH system and I will be looking for a career as well going back to school. It is all about who you know. I am blessed I have a job and I am good at what I do and do it well. Sad we can;t keep management something is wrong with that picture.

productive workplace
lpn (Former Employee), Cleveland, OH – January 31, 2013
Pros: very productive workplace
Cons: mandatory shift rotation
I worked as a staff nurse in medical surgical nursing in a growing institution. We worked as team members which consisted of other lpns and nursing assistants and a registered nurse. I did medicine administration, treatments, documentation, prepared clients for surgery and did post-surgical care. I learned basic and skilled nusring and techniques. the – more... most enjoyable part of my job was learning to become the competent nurse I am today, and to see clients go home after surgery. The hardest part was being a new nurse – less

I like what I do and want to continue as a Technician where ever I go.
Hospital Certified Pharmacy Technician (Current Employee), Cleveland, OH – January 11, 2013
Pros: living closer to work
Cons: there really isn't any
I have worked for UH for over 20+ years. I have how to compound IV chemotherapy at Ireland Ca Center for over 8 years. (Siedman Ca Center). I have worked with many personalities and have enjoyed all my time with this family of friends. The hardest was traveling 100 miles a day and leaving the Main Campus to work at our community hospital, but now I – more... work 1 mile from my job and that's the most enjoyable. – less

Phasing LPNs out of their system
LPN (Former Employee), UH Geneva – January 5, 2013
Pros: experience working in a hospital
Cons: lucky to get breaks, personality conflicts in the staff. phasing out of the lpns
Worked as a prn LPN and most of the I was worked as a Nursing Assistant. Same nursing pay but I did not become a nurse to work as a NA. If I wanted to do that, I wouldnt have gone back to school.Coworkers have their clique and talk about each other all the time. Noone really got along. I would hear groans every time we looked at the board on who was – more... working with who. Seemed like no one really cared about me really except for being the extra hand they needed. Not too much of a good choice in hospitals in this area so I would still probably go there if I had a medical emergency because they do push working for the patient more than anything else and want those high scores. – less
