Position Summary: The Department of Physician Assistant Education at the University of Dayton invites applications for the position of Director of Clinical Education as a clinical faculty member. Candidates with an interest in PA education including developing a strong clinical experience are encouraged to apply. The chosen candidate will be expected to:
 Coordinate and oversee the clinical phase of the PA program.
 Assist with development and design, implementation, assessment/analysis of clinical courses.
 Establish clinical rotation sites
 Assign students to rotation sites for an annual calendar
 Perform routine site visits to evaluate students, preceptors, and clinical facility
 Willfully agree to travel to various clinical sites
 Assist teaching in didactic courses as needed
 Participate with student mentoring/counseling, especially, but not limited to the clinical year
 Participate in the admission process
 Participate in self-study and accreditation activities
 Willfully accept modular based education for the PA student
 Ensure compliance with educational objectives during the clinical phase of the program

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Graduate Degree
2. NCCPA certified/Ohio registration if a PA
3. Board certified if a MD or DO
4. Valid Ohio license to practice, MD or DO; Ohio registration (or eligible) if PA
5. Minimum 2 years of clinical experience as a PA
6. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly in a written format

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Three or more years’ experience as a practicing clinician
2. Three or more years’ experience as a PA educator
3. Experience working with clinical portion of a PA department/program
4. Demonstrated ability to oversee clinical experience development and preceptor recruitment
5. Experience in the ARC-PA accreditation process, especially in the Standards relating to clinical education
6. Experience teaching in a classroom setting
7. Communication skills necessary Interpersonal for mentoring/counseling students, interacting with prospective clinical, and classroom presentations
8. Experience in the admission process for PA applicants
9. Participation in self-study and accreditation activities
10. Knowledge of modular based education for the PA student
11. Experience in developing and adhering to educational objectives during the clinical phase of the program
12. Demonstrated working knowledge of local medical community
13. Excellent time management and organizational skills
14. Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team
15. Demonstrated interest in teaching students and working with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
