University of Tennessee's Students Promoting Environmental Action in Knoxville (SPEAK) is the leading group on the Knoxville campus calling for an increased use in renewable energy at UT. UT currently purchases green power, .3 percent of its annual purchase from Knoxville Utility Board. SPEAK's campaign, the Clean Energy Initiative, would allocate students fees for purchased green power from the Green Power Switch� program, on-site generation of renewable energy at the Knoxville campus, and conservation and efficiency measures to help reduce the campuses energy load.
