Productive work place with a friendly atmosphere
Resident Advisor (Former Employee), Williamsburg, KYApril 30, 2014
Pros: pay was in the form of tuition paid and living in the dorm
Cons: long work weekends and consistent on-call duties over a 24 hour period
A typical day consisted of a six hour shift. It would require maintaining a safe living environment for residents, making sure dorm rooms were ready for students at the beginning of each year, assisting with check-in process for all students at the beginning of each semester, and checking out all students from the dorm at the end of each school year. – more... I was responsible for periodic room checks and maintaining the dorm for full functioning abilities. This position gave great experience in a managerial position. Co-workers were of multiple ethnicity and brought a broad range of culture. The hardest part of the job was maintaining appropriate GPA and balance between this position and my college swim practices. The most enjoyable part of this job was interacting with all the students within the dorm and creating a large group of friends. – less

University of the Cumberlands was a school employment and helped me pay for tuition.
Resident Assistant (Former Employee), Williamsburg, KYAugust 6, 2013
At the University of the Cumberlands (UC), I worked in the Student Service Office and helped with clerical duties; including answering phones, copying various paperwork, filing, & faxing. I worked there for two years and I enjoyed my time there. I also worked as a Resident Assistant (RA) in the dorms. I learned to work with my co-workers and how to – more... deal with residents in almost every situation. This job also helped me to grow as a person. My work experience as a RA included 3 summers and 2 school years. Some of my best memories from college came from working as a RA and also the people I worked with. – less

great owning and running a successful business
TUTORING OPERATIONS MANAGER (Former Employee), Williamsburg, KYMarch 20, 2013
Pros: rewarding, great work team
Cons: long hours, constant demand
Owning my own business was great typical day consisted of payroll of employees, training, hiring, college recruitment, tutoring students in subjects I was able to help in, cleaning and maintaining tutoring work floor, and having meetings with dean of students and president of college about once a month to show progress and statistics of success. I learned – more... how to operate and maintain a successful business at a very early age, how to separate work from home, and how to apply my management skills for the success of the college and business. Co-workers were older than me but understood my style of management and we all worked to maintain the business. Hardest part was having to leave when I had to move for another career. Most enjoyable part was seeing that I was helping students be able to stay in college and pass their classes. – less

typical day involves prepping lab to make sure materials are in place for students so they can have lab. Once students enter lab I guide and answer any basic questions they have in lab. I also maintain safety in the lab. After students leave I ensure there is enough materials for the next lab and cleanup any mess that a student may have left. I learned – more... important laboratory safety procedures. – less

Best internship of all time!
Campus Internship - Semester Missionary (Former Employee), Williamsburg, KYJanuary 4, 2013
Cons: small town and not a whole lot to do
I did a North American Mission Board (NAMB) missionary internship at University of the Cumberlands. I worked with the campus ministry staff to provide administrative support, and everyday brought about new challenges. One day I was cleaning the campus building, and another, I was helping staff a campus-wide concert. I highly respected my staff as they – more... were great employers and leaders. The most difficult part of the job was saying goodbye. This may be the only internship that I wished that lasted forever. – less

Strong educational institution.
Office Assistant (Current Employee), Williamsburg, KYSeptember 4, 2012
Pros: free education, great benefits, very understanding and wise boss.
Cons: long drive with the cost of gas.
Daily activities include interacting with students, setting up class schedules, and keeping an accounts payable log. I work with students with disabilities as liaison between them and the Associate dean. Through the University of the Cumberlands I have earned a degree in Business Administration causing me to understand the thought process of hundreds – more... of millions of dollars that come throught the college.
I work in the Deans office and oversee his travel and schedule his trips to over 150 different counties and several states during a calendar year. The office is full of stong independent workers that are very skilled at their specific job duties.
The hardest part of the job at the University is not being able to help every student that struggles with disabilities. My job allows me to assist them in many ways such as schedules and learning assistance.
The most enjoyable part of the job is seeing a student receive the help that they need or deserve. Being able to sit down with them and assist them in resolving a matter brings the most joy. – less

Multimedia and Athletic Services Assistant (Former Employee), Williamsburg, KYMay 29, 2012
Pros: photography, athletics, working with great people
Cons: i wanted to work more events, crowded work area.
A typical day for Multimedia and athletic services job was sometimes going out and taking photos of athletic teams, writing a story on an athletic team or social event, taking stats for athletics, video streaming, running errands, or uploading stats on computer.
I learned a lot of multimedia (photography, video) and what it takes to get projects turned – more... in on time.
I met and became great friends with a lot of my co-workers/bosses. I enjoyed everyone and working with them.
The hardest part of the job was leaving. The job in itself was not "hard" but rewarding and I enjoyed it very much.

Other University jobs I worked a lot, doing many projects throughout the day and having to micromanage my work and classes in between. I learned about how to manage an art gallery and properly how to take care of it, run a clothing store by myself, interact with many different people. – less
