At my hospital you work your 8 or 12 hour shift and have the 30 minute unpaid lunch break. This means that you work 6:30am- 3:00 pm allowing that displaced amount of time for lunch break.
If you are too busy and are unable to take your lunch then you can claim that time as having worked and get paid the extra 30min on your daily pay.
You are scheduled 30 min unpaid time after working 4 hours for your lunch . If you are unable to take uninterupted break they are to pay you for it. Some managers harass you that it is your own fault that you don't get to lunch if it's busy other managers don't , they are super budget conscious.
Only if you fight for it.
