Residence Counselor (Former Employee), Barneveld, NY – April 25, 2012
I worked the morning shift from 6:30-10:30. Duties included assisting getting the residents up and ready for the day, assisting them with breakfast and other morning doings. Then got them on the bus for their day hab program. I learned that there are others out there who are caable of doing everyday tasks with a little assistance. Management was not – more... up to my standards, went through 5 managers in my 3 years at the same residence. Most of my co-workers were just out of high school and were there for a paycheck, not to assist the individuals who lives in the residence. I enjoyed getting to know the residence and their likes/dislikes. – less

As a PSP instructor I equip staff with the knowledge and tools necessary for assisting the individuals we serve through crisis situations. I train staff on addressing the individuals in areas such as tone of voice and body langauage.
