This experience gave me the opportunity to work with 9th-12th grade students who were less privedged. I was able to interact with them and also help them get through some tough times. The participants respected me and I am still in contact with many of them.

Tutoring kids during the summer in a study hall like environment. Kids are fun to work with and you have a lot of freedom to go to areas such as the library with the class when needed.

Upward Bound taught me alot about how to work with high school students. While working here, I tutored high school students in all academic subjects. I had extensive training in courses related to youth and youth development and have been able to apply that knowledge outside of Upward Bound. The hardest part of the job was working with students who didn't care about their academics. A program that help you with school work and prepare you for college and real world work force.

This is a great company. I love any program that help our youth young reach and realize their true potential. I would recommend this program to any child who needs that extra help getting into college. I am so glad that I was apart of this organization.

Job helped me grow as a well rounded individual, setting a positive example for younger individuals who came from the same circumstances as I did growing up.

You live on campus for 6 weeks with highschool students. You become their mentors and tutors and help them through the 6 week course, which prepares them for college experience. Co-workers super nice all being chico state students. The studnets and RA's range from different cultural bacjkrounds and each day you get 4 hours off to do whatever you would – more... like. Summer jo working with high school students. It is demanding but lots of fun

Upward Bound was a program over the summer that helps kids in school prepare for the future and next school year. I learned things about each subject I was going to learn about in school before I was in school. We also had jobs at Upward Bound and mines was an Office Assistant I answered phones, filed papers, and ran errands. It was all positive energy – more... helping people and them helping you prepare to be better.The hardest part would have had to of been eating cafeteria food something I wasn't use to doing during the summer's. – less

Mentored High school kids during the summer while they live in college dorms and attend summer classes. If anyone had questions you would have to be assessable to them 24 hours.

A typical day at work would be we would wake up around six in the morning to wake up the students and make sure they sign in for the day. I would lead the girls to the cafeteria so they could eat breakfast and get ready to go to their classes. After they finish their classes we do activities, so they can get exercise. Easy to work your own schedule as you set up times with the students.
Work is inconsistent though as it is solely at the need of the student.

It was nice being able to work with people i already knew, however it was hard for people to take me serious because they did know me. If i were to tell them to sit down or pay attention, they would not listen. It was my first job so it was a nice place to start.

working with high school kids who look up to you and being able to provide motivation and spend time with them was great
