Eligibility Specialist II (Current Employee) – Price, UT – December 13, 2017
At Department of Workforce Services I worked tirelessly to ensure accurate public assistance benefits. Case load was upwards of 400 families. I enjoy helping people and this job was at the forefront of allowing me the opportunity to continuously work with people.
Benefits decreasing while compensation is not increasing.
Unemployment Insurance Contribution Worker (Current Employee) – Salt Lake City, UT – November 6, 2017
One of the reasons why I used to love working for DWS is the benefits. Health, dental, vision insurance. Life insurance. Short term disability and 401K/457 and Roth IRA's. There was an excellent work/life balance and paid time off increases the longer you work here. However, recently the benefits have started decreasing and the compensation - salary was not increasing. In other words, they are taking away everything that kept me working here in the first place. Every year the insurance premiums increase and you are lucky if you get a 2% COLA increase. Most of the time the COLA you may receive does not make up for the increase with the insurance. Job flexibility and the ability to work from home has been taken away. I used to love the managers I worked for, my current manager and the management team give the impression they are setting us up to fail. Performance and quality measures are subjective and will change depending on which supervisor you speak with. There is no consistency. This is a great place to get some basic entry level experience but if you want a place where you can constantly grow and learn this is not the environment for you.
Cheaper health insurance and pension.
Compensation outside of health insurance is terrible.
Unemployment Interviewer (Former Employee) – Fort Smith, AR – October 15, 2015

Volunteer (Former Employee) – Helena, AK – July 14, 2015
There were always great things happening on a daily bases at the company. I learned more about skills I already acquired such as Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint and more. My co- workers were very hard working and friendly and the management was great. The hardest part about my job was knowing that it was only temporary because of attendance at an university out-of-state. The most enjoyable part about my job was working in such a place where determination, dedication and drive took place everyday to promote the company and better care for it's consumers.

Workforce Specialist (Former Employee) – Little Rock, AR – August 8, 2014
Interviewing clients assisting with job placement and life skills assessment. Logging information into system. I learned how to problem solve and teach client to use better decision making. I also learned how to be a self starter and to depend on yourself to complete task. Training is very important to be able to function in this type of environment. The most enjoyable part of employment with this Agency and any other Agency is when the probationer or the client comes and back and express that I was someone that help them through their barrier or after talking with me they feel a lot better and have the faith to keep pressing or trying.
