Adjunct Professor (Current Employee) –  Orlando, FLFebruary 6, 2018
Small town, small minds, small school with little to no long-term strategic planning evident. Everything is done on a reactive basis despite suggestions to be more proactive in all facets (student registration, campus safety, reporting guidelines and measures, employee retention and promotion).
Pros
Free parking
Cons
Overall services, poor technology, communication

I loved working for Valencia and being able to help the students. The job is as stressful as you make it for yourself. People are very nice but you have to be careful about what you say and to whom.

Office Manager (Former Employee) –  Orlando, FLJanuary 25, 2018
Valencia billboards advertise that their 2 year graduates start at 42K. Their employees with 4 year degrees and higher don't make that much unless in higher level management. Promotions and job requirements are based on who you know and who the hiring manager wants for the job. Degree requirements are changed depending on who they like. The President's buddies get high paying jobs created for them while average staff members suffer.

Valencia College provides equal opportunity for educational opportunities and employment to all. The Valencia Foundation seeks to provide the margin of excellence for which Valencia has long been known. The foundation is a separate, not-for-profit, IRS approved 501(c)(3) corporation chartered in 1974 to provide financially for the educational needs of Valencia that cannot be met through state aid or student tuition income. Sixty community leaders volunteer generously of their time, talent, and resources by serving on the board of directors.

Curriculum Assistant (Former Employee) –  Orlando, FLDecember 28, 2017
Although job growth is highly dependent on where you are at degree-wise, Valencia is one of the best places I have worked at. Valencia is very up front about what they expect out of employees and allow employees to be creative and collaborative.

Working at Valencia has been a good experience thus far. The pay is fair and what makes it fair is all the benefits that go along with it. Management is very geared towards career advancement for their employees.

Administrative Assistant (Former Employee) –  Orlando, FLOctober 23, 2017
Valencia is a great college to attend and to work for. I was able to take free Spanish classes after work. Great benefits. If approved the staff gets early Friday schedule for the summer. Safety is a priority. The staff is great. the leadership is wonderful. Always things to do. In partnership with local community. I would recommend it to future students and anyone looking for employment.
Pros
Half day Fridays in the summers (if approved yearly)

Director of Media Relations (Former Employee) –  Orlando, FLSeptember 14, 2017
As part of the Film Production certificate program I was assigned Director of Media Relations for the annual film festival. This was not a paid position. This was the first year under a new program director so things were not as organized as they could have been but in the end the class and staff made a great festival happen.
Pros
Meeting film professionals
Cons
Managing deadlines
