Valhalla Place, Inc. is an outpatient chemical dependency facility offering medication assisted treatment services, individual counseling, group outpatient treatment, and mental health services. We are located in Woodbury and Brooklyn Park, Minnesota and currently have an LADC position open at our Woodbury Clinic. This position is full time and offers early hours from 5:30am-2pm. Saturday rotation may be required.
1.Completes with patient all intake, admission, discharge and aftercare paperwork.
2.Completes the patient psychosocial and an individual treatment plan within specific federal guidelines.
3.Provides individual, group, and/or family counseling in a manner that respects each patent’s individual characteristics, needs, and preferences.
4.Identifies and assesses symptoms related to the treatment of opioid addiction that results in clear and prompt interventions supportive of the patient.
5.Utilizes knowledge of clinical diagnostic methods and principles to assess patient status and acute needs.
6.Provides crisis intervention, when needed, based on proven and researched intervention approaches.
7.Utilizes knowledge of Federal, State and local ordinances and policies to support the patient’s recovery needs.
8.Demonstrates knowledge of co-occurring mental health disorders, and provides appropriate interventions and/or referrals to address the symptoms in a manner that aids and supports the person’s addiction recovery process.
9.Develops multiple external recovery resources through collaboration with fellow counselors, investigation and awareness of external resources, and development of relationships with external resource providers that benefit each patient.
10.Provides treatment in a manner that reflects knowledge of a range of treatment interventions and methods, and demonstrates that knowledge through documentation of those interventions and methods in the record of the patient.
11.Provides culturally competent treatment through an awareness of one’s own personal biases and how they impact interactions with patients and fellow employees, through a knowledge of the cultural characteristics and context of the patient, and through demonstrating counseling skills that reflect an awareness of one’s own biases and a knowledge of the patient’s cultural background and characteristics.
12.Interacts with patients, fellow employees and visitors to the clinic in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of open, direct, and assertive communication.
13.Serves as an advocate for all patients in receiving services within the organization and outside the organization, by supporting the rights of patients and communicating information, to all involved parties, in a manner that reduces the stigma of addiction and mental disabilities and increases awareness of the individual uniqueness of each patient.
14.Provides case management through recognizing the multiple needs of the patient and facilitating the use of multiple resources in supporting recovery.
15.Maintains communication with the Medical Director that supports the recovery of the patient.
16.Adheres to all State, Federal and Program regulations and procedures regarding methadone treatment, and immediately utilizes the corporate compliance system to report any knowledge of non-compliance with regulations.
17.Refers patients to community mental health substance abuse agencies as part of a comprehensive referral process to external resources and supports.
18.Utilizes behavioral contracts as one of a variety of therapeutic methods to assist patients with meeting the requirements of the program, when such an approach will benefit an individual patient’s recovery process.
19.Performs all job duties within the health and safety guidelines of the organization.
20.Performs all job duties within the written guidelines of the behavioral, ethical, and conduct codes of the organization.
21.Participates actively in the peer record review process, by engaging in review discussions, providing feedback to team members, and integrating feedback from peers into improving skills.
22.Perform other duties as assigned.
LEVEL OF EDUCATION/TRAINING/QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in the social sciences or behavioral sciences; preferable Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services Alcohol and Drug Counseling.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: One or more of the following certificates or licenses is required for the position of Chemical Dependency Counselor: (LADC, ADC-T, LICSW).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Regularly walk, stand or stoop; occasionally lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing up to 25 pounds; and regularly drives a motor vehicle.
Work is performed in an office or other environmentally controlled room; Work exposes incumbent to contagious or infections diseases; Work may expose incumbent to dangerous and volatile situations; and Work exposes incumbent to possible bodily injury.
FREEDOM FROM CHEMICAL USE PROBLEMS:
As described in part 9530.6450, subpart 1, Treatment Directors, Supervisors, Nurses, Counselors and other professionals will have two years free of chemical use problems; paraprofessionals and all other staff with direct client contact will have one year free of chemical use problems. The time period begins to run on the date the employee begins receiving treatment services or the date of the last incident.
