About Valley City State University
Valley City was founded in 1872 with the name of Second Crossing of the Sheyenne when the Northern Pacific railroad crossed the river here. When a town is built around a winding river, bridges become very necessary. Valley City has 11 bridges within the community, 8 of these have interpretive panels placed explaining the historic or architectural significance – more... of each bridge. We are very proud of these beautiful and historic bridges and have developed a tour to showcase them.
