About Valley City State University

Valley City was founded in 1872 with the name of Second Crossing of the Sheyenne when the Northern Pacific railroad crossed the river here. When a town is built around a winding river, bridges become very necessary. Valley City has 11 bridges within the community, 8 of these have interpretive panels placed explaining the historic or architectural significance – more... of each bridge. We are very proud of these beautiful and historic bridges and have developed a tour to showcase them.

Barnes County Historical Museum:
Experience heritage and culture as you step into the 20,000 square foot Barnes County Museum. Located in downtown Valley City this facility maintains continually changing exhibits which include a 28 foot scale model of the highline bridge, miniature railroad, pioneer displays, a genealogy library and much more. Visit the "Timepiece Gift Shop" for your souvenirs. The meeting is handicap accessible and hosts group meetings and tours. – lessMore from ZoomInfo »
