Pros: i love what i do.
Cons: there are none.
I love what I do for Valley National Bank but am looking to further my career as a Branch Manager and guide people with my knowledge and sales experience. My management style is that I am very hands on. I enjoy working with my staff and the clients.

Great learning experience
Sales Associate (Current Employee), Dover, NJ – February 13, 2013
Pros: team work
Cons: no opportunity for advancement
Working at Valley National Bank is a great learning experience. I have learned to grow as an individual but now I know that it is time for me to move on and learn more. I learned management skills from my supervisors that will benefit in another company. The most enjoyable time is working as a team with my fellow co-workers the environment is very positive – more... and whenever there is a problem we fix it as a team. The hardest part is moving on there is no room for advancement and the more I learn so that I can advance there are no opportunities. With my education, skills, and ambition to learn and do more I feel I woud be a great asset to a new company. – less

Average retail oriented bank - not a big player in commercial banking
Vice President, Cash Management Sales (Former Employee), Wayne, NJ – January 14, 2013
Pros: great people in the trenches, great service to customers
Cons: sleepy yesteryear management style - good ole boy senior management
Commercial banking services are not emphasized here - retail banking is very big. Hard for any commercial banker to advance a career here.

All sales & no fun
TELLER (Former Employee), Shrewsbury, NJ – December 23, 2012
A typical day at work was repetative: customer service, customer transactions, sales and proving cash drawers. I learned to increase my customer service skills. Management was strict and to the books. I had a great team. There were no hard parts of the job. The most enjoyable part of the job were my customers.

Productive and fun place to work at
Bank Teller (Former Employee), Kearny, NJ – December 6, 2012
Pros: 1 hour lunch, weekends off
I would go in and set up my station so I can attend customers when the bank would open.

I learned many things there like how to issue money orders and cashiers checks

The management was somewhat ok bue I did see many favoritetism.

My co-workers were the best part of the day just being around all of them made it a fun place to work at.

For me there – more... wasn't a hard part because everything was a routine and if I didn't know something I had many people around me to let me know or teach me.

The whole day was fun I enjoy being a teller and having contact with the customers. – less

Positive and active place to work.
ASSISTANT HEAD TELLER (Former Employee), Ridgewood, NJ – October 27, 2012
During a typical day at work my responsibilities included delivering excellent customer service and client solutions by identifying referral opportunities for new products and services based on the customer financial goals while performing efficient and accurate banking transactions.
I worked with numbers quickly and accurately while paying close attention – more... to details in order to find mistakes within the system. I executed financial transactions in accordance with bank policies and maintained an excellent record in daily drawer balancing.
My responsabilities also included supervising new tellers and helping them to identify any errors in their daily money drawers, balancing the branch ATM machine, ordering the necessary monetary funds for branch business operations, and preparing financial statements. – less

good times
Bank Teller (Former Employee), Little Falls, NJ – October 18, 2012
Pros: nicec costomers, great hours
Cons: disrespectful coworkers, to much overtime unpaid
my typical day is getting everything ready for the day making sure i have enough money ... i learned to use the new scanners recently there.... learned all about the whole banking system works and checks etc... how to detect counterfeit bills....the hardest part prob has to be when everyone goes to lunch late and it gets really busy but i get through – more... show try not to rush to not mess up. the most enjoyable part of the day is when through all that hard work at the end of the day your box proves to the penny and you have no differences and you know you survived. – less

AVP, Branch Manager (Former Employee), West New York, NJ – October 17, 2012
Pros: awards and bonuses
Cons: little room for advancements, pay is too low
Typical work day is selling all varieties of bank products to prospective clients. Customer satisfaction was a plus. The hardest part of this job was bringing new clientel to your office location when there are so many other competitors in your area. My team were very successful in getting their job done and providing excellent service to all of the – more... clients. I enjoyed working with my staff who I managed and rewarded each and one of them for their excellence. I also enjoyed being awarded Top 16 manager of the entire bank for my excellent productivity and service. – less

Good place to interact with people
Bank Teller (Former Employee), Lyndhurst, NJ – October 12, 2012
the environment is pretty good, you really learn to interact with costumers, you are constantly receiving training however people like to create drama and management don't usually reward employees. Is all about upper management never for the branch employees
