It truly depends on the type of position you are interviewing for. Some positions involve a phone screen and single interview, while others may need multiple phone interviews, Skype/video interviews, and in-person interviews. The number of candidates and manager availability can also impact the timing a great deal. Our recruiting team works very hard to keep the process moving along and qualified candidates informed.

Vanderbilt is very big hospital it's difficult to meet with someone face to face, so it's better to know the person who is interviewing you. However I have to admit it's not easy to meet with someone face to face.
