Director, Internal Audit Group (Current Employee) – Plainview, NY – July 6, 2016
Veeco is a relatively small public company with products which are very sophisticated catering to the semi-conductor and data storage industry.
I had the opportunity to bring the internal audit department in-house and build up processes and team to deliver the annual audit plan.
I performed risk assessments and presentations for the audit committee. Access to senior management and key stakeholders was easy and we got the opportunity to present at all senior levels including CFO, CEO and audit committee.
Senior Accountant & Analyst (Current Employee) – Horsham, PA – February 9, 2016
The Finance department takes on a significant number of duties. The company does compensate well.
Typical workday is significantly busy from the beginning to end. I am the key contact for Corporate as well as for all of the departments within the business unit. I've been exposed to many things working at Veeco. M&A, Revenue recognition, cost accounting, audits, forecasting/budgeting, etc. Management is typically well qualified and fair.
Sr. Global Supplier Quality Manager (Current Employee) – Somerset, NJ – January 5, 2016
The typical day is to develop strategies to mitigate risk for business. I learned new technology, established supplier quality management system from scratch. Hard part of this job was to execute new system in new environment. Enjoy the challenges and drive solutions for efficiency and meet market need in fast pace. Veeco has different business model and quality management system than my past experience in medical device and Automotive industry. I am responsible for driving improvement and developing new Suppliers in Global Market.

Staff Application Engineer (Current Employee) – Fort Collins, CO – January 24, 2015
Veeco has relocated from the Fort Collins, CO location where I have experience so this may or may not apply to other locations. The work done at Veeco is interesting and the systems built are cutting edge and well engineered. I would think about taking a position with Veeco as similar to working for a defense contractor. You get to work on interesting projects but are subject to the business cycles that are largely out of your control. As a motivated employee, I found very long hours to be fairly normal and necessary to get the results that customers required. Met some really great people working here.
Too many managers who have no clue of the technology
Engineer (Current Employee) – Somerset – November 29, 2014
It is a very good place to work for the technology and you can learn a lot from your colleagues.
too many managers who make decisions with no clue of the technology, no internal promotions instead hire from outside who never worked on the technology, company with turnover of less than a billion dollars a year but have so many managers, sr vp, directors like a multi billion dollar company
Solar and OLED Source Product Marketing Manager (Former Employee) – Saint Paul, MN – November 24, 2014
Veeco tries to be a very efficient company. They utilize the best management practices and have extremely high expectations of their employees. At the same time, you never really feel completely safe in your job. Turn over is high, but typical for semiconductor capital equipment makers.
If you are looking for an intense job that will teach you a lot in a very short period of time this might be a great fit. If you are looking for job security then look elsewhere.
Busy Office, did not like the controller at the time
Accounts Payable Supervisor (Former Employee) – Plainview, NY – July 3, 2014
Enjoyed the work. Did not like the manager or her attitude. I have nothing else to say about this job. I thought with working over 10 hour days, and being in early every day, that taking a leave one day 15 minutes early because I was sharing a car and then getting reprimanded for it the next deay was absolutely ridiculous. As an exempt employee at the time, that should never have been an issue at all.
