Good Company
Fiber Customer Support Analyst (Former Employee), Syracuse, NYFebruary 9, 2014
Pros: great benefits
Cons: mandantory overtime
This is a good company to work for. The hours can be difficult depending on type of job (rotating schedules, open 24/7, work nights/weekends/and holidays). The job requires joining the union. There is a contract in place that is very employee oriented. Paid vacations, some of the best health benefits for a call center, 401k and regular raises. The co-workers – more... are supportive, training is paid, and the union is there for you if you need them. The hardest part of this job is the customers, and when trained properly they are not that difficult to work with. The management leaves much to be desired. Often promoted from different departments and needing to be trained by the people they are meant to supervise, they can be little to no help. The attendance policy strict and uncompromising, making it hard for single parents or people with young children. But overall a great company to work for. – less

Supervisor- Dispatch Resource Center- West Coast (Former Employee), Beaverton, ORDecember 4, 2013
Pros: advancement opportunities
Cons: frequent relocation.
While working at Verizon I was empowered to grow the company, motivate my employees, complete ongoing training, and be part of a company that provides an outstanding service. A typical day would be to ensure customers expectations were meet or exceeded, employees were given all resources and training needed to perform their job. Manage workflow, budget, – more... and time management. I enjoyed being able to provide process improvements the best. – less

Nice work environment and good team to work with
Sr .NET and DB Developer (Current Employee), Irving, TXNovember 25, 2013
Pros: team is very friendly, trusting leads
Cons: no benefits or facilities as i am a contractor
Work is very much technology oriented and I enjoy to work here because all tasks that are taken are the ones which is a great workout for brain.

Working on complex designs, procedures, and supporting front end implementation is usual routine.

I gained a lot of importance and grip over the project which makes me feel the active presence in every decision – more... taken. – less

Large Corporation, Fun Place
IT Consultant and Project Coordinator (Former Employee), Irving, TXNovember 18, 2013
Verizon is an innovative company and fun place to work. In IT, days can vary considerably, depending on the cycle os the release. Typically a week before a new release things become very hectic. There is a brief relaxed period between releases.

The management is generally non-micromanaging, which means that employees know hat they have to do to meet – more... the deliverables. – less

Fiber Support Analyst (Former Employee), Oxnard, CAJuly 17, 2013
Pros: co-workers, management, benefits
Cons: hours, pressure
I was proud to work for Verizon as a technical support analyst in their Fiber Optic department, although the job was demanding, the compensation was worth the work, and job security was reassuring even when there was strong pressure to raise performance.
The only other complaint I had while working there was during the periods of mandatory overtime – more... when I had difficulty staying motivated and well-rested.
Management was pleasant, personable, and helpful. There was clear opportunity for advancement and management was willing and able to help us get promoted. – less

The overall position was enjoyable because of the co-workers and support.
Wholesale Account Manager (Former Employee), Tulsa, OKAugust 24, 2012
One thing you could always depend on was a change in a process or procedure would be a weekly occurance. You had to be and capable of making quick stops and starts on projects.

I learned to balance my time between contacting customers and job requirements, such as training.

It was a pleasure working with my co-workers and management.

The hardest – more... part of the job was when there was a change to a process or procedure without enough explanations or training to back it up. Although, it did eventually filter down from management but sometimes it was 2 or 3 weeks after the mandate came down from the top with no guidance.

Most enjoyable was talking with customers and just getting to know them and their companies. – less
