Licensed Practical Nurse, Tilton, IL - April 20, 2014
A typical day started with me being told I would be the only nurse, fresh out of school mind you, for 42 residents on a busy evening shift. I would be assigned 4 aids or less for these wonderful people who were on a total care unit. I would be asked by registered nurses to do things not in my scope of practice so they could go out and smoke frequently instead of starting an iv I needed done 2 hours previously. We had frequent falls related to poor staffing. Some CNA's were very, very good and others were downright lazy playing on their phones and getting very rude when you asked them to stop. I loved my residents and miss them dearly, but the environment there was too caustic for me.
