Has its drawbacks
Sagitta Support Technician II (Former Employee), Windsor, CTFebruary 14, 2015
Pros: technically-challenging work
Cons: no perks for the work you do
Vertafore was a fun place to work when I started. I got to fly first-class to Seattle for on-the-job training (was there a week). The company creates and manages Agency Processing Systems for all size of independent insurance agencies. I handled back-end B.A. support for their flagship system, Sagitta, which is in use by enterprise- and mid-sized agencies.

My TM was a bit of a joke, acting like a 10-year old child, constantly pulling pranks and playing with all manner of toys around us, interrupting our workday all the time. My co-workers were cool, always on-hand for a quick question or to help with a difficult issue. This job was IT for business analyst work, and I loved the technicality of the position.

I was laid off 15 months into my time with the company, even though two other people had been there less time and should have been let go before I was.

Memories of this company are bittersweet due to being let go, but overall, if you can avoid layoffs, it is a great place to work. Just don't expect perks.

Amazing people, room for advancement, not the best direction
Professional Services, Resource Coordinator (Former Employee), Bothell, WAJanuary 13, 2015
Pros: the people, the room for advancement
Cons: management, moral, stress level
AT&T can be a really fun place to work. It is easy, however, to get burnt out. The days can be long and crazy, and the management isn't always the best.

There are a lot of places to go in the company, but it can be very difficult to figure out what your options are, or what the best fit is for you.

Management most of the time is amazing, but as this company is trying to change and is focused on efficiency, management is often swapped out.

The toughest part of the job was working with a lack of moral. When things got really tough, there wasn't a lot of support for the teams.

I leaned a lot about training people and leading teams. I also learned a lot about leading meetings and developing content. There was a lot f opportunity to work on projects, and that made things feel new and fun.

Lead Talent Acquisition Specialist-IT (Current Employee), Conyers, GANovember 18, 2014
Vertafore is a great company if you're looking for a mid-sized company who puts its employees first. Management team sets strategic direction for employees that are attainable. Company values hard-work, innovation.

I would recommend others to work here given the work-life balance, management, and opportunIties yet most are located in corporate site which is Seattle, WA.

Implementation Consultant (Current Employee), remoteJune 30, 2014
Pros: remote work opportunity
Cons: high turnover
The executives at Vertafore are more concerned about profits than their employees. Customers are always having to get used to new consultants because of turnover and layoffs.

Not as advertised
Product Support Analyst (Former Employee), East Lansing, MIJanuary 6, 2014
Pros: independent work environment
Cons: callcenter mentality, little guidance, cutthroat business
This company is not what they advertise. They will tell you the job is about the customers, which is true, but they will also tell you this is not a call center. This could not be less true. You will be expected to be on the phone all day. This is fine if you are expecting a call center, but when they advertise that this is not their focus it is deceiving. There is little room for improvement, you will work short handed frequently, and you will get the short straw as the new employee. Think you're part of a team? You're part of a group of cutthroat individuals that work in the same proximity, all out for themselves with very little management. Managers are afraid to get their hands dirty, which means employees are on their own. You don't need a babysitter, but having someone sit back and quietly observe without intervention takes it's toll.

Growing Pains, But Generally On Course
Senior Technical Writer (Former Employee), East Lansing, MINovember 6, 2013
Company (1500 or so FTE) has grown a great deal through acquisitions over the past decade, and that has meant the expected management right-sizing and hiccups from culture dissimilarities. Is held by a private equity investment firm that will be itching for its payday before long. A great acquisition candidate itself, as it is among the top dogs in its niches (insurance agency management and producer compliance platforms, etc.). Currently extremely understaffed for its big-league revenue goals, but this will likely change once it is gobbled up by a bigger fish that is either in or has ties to the Fortune 500.

Stepping Stone
Support Analyst II (Former Employee), Conyers, GASeptember 27, 2013
Pros: friday lunch, co-workers are great
Cons: computer tracks your day and tells you when to do what when, corporate dictatorship, not enough people to support customers
Taking escalated customer issues. You are tied to a desk all day tacking chats, calls, and emails. If you need a break you have to set computer to break and every sec is timed. Everything is measured and timed. You can't work on issues without a backlog piling up waiting for you. The Managers are puppets being told by corporate what to do. Corporate does what ever is best for their bottom line, meaning they tend to have several rounds of reduction in force each year so beware. This place is a steeping stone. If you dare to enter, learn what you can learn and move on to bigger and better. Its a great place for interns to start out and get their feet wet.

a stopping point
system admin (Current Employee), bothell, waSeptember 25, 2013
Pros: some departments enjoy flexible scheduling.
Cons: everything else
Overloaded on higher management with no concern for the "little guy". Turnover is about as bad as a mcdonalds with no effort to retain or reward talent. Company has the feel that it has no direction, or every direction. Pay rates are 20% below market average in a culture where management will actually tell you "you are lucky you have a job". You can be laid off at any time as it occurs frequently. This is where hope goes to die.
