Cons: stress
This company will do anything for a profit - they will sell anything to anyone. Even the wrong product! They will fire anyone at anytime. Beware!

Frequent shifts in direction and poor management make this place a career death trap.
Rather not say (Current Employee), Conyers, GA – April 2, 2013
Pros: depends on location, but from a corporate viewpoint the benefits are decent and the base salary is ok.
Cons: too many to list
Vertafore consists of a number of products designed to meet the needs of the insurance industry. Most of these products were acquired by buying up smaller close-knit companies that meet the needs various niche insurance markets.

Over the last few years the company has had considerable trouble identifying how to consolidate these assets. As a result, – more... they have made a number of missteps. Each misstep or change in direction they make results in job losses at the various locations. Typically, these are good skilled people that are no longer needed in their current roles and are simply cast aside. This leaves the remaining employees feeling uneasy about their futures.

All decisions and processes are driven out of Bothell, WA. While working in Bothell is no guarantee of job security, it appears that working at any other location is more likely to result in your eventual elimination during the next priority shift.

Weak attempts have been made to manage employee satisfaction concerns, but there has been little cause to celebrate. Additionally, the review process is arbitrary and seems to be geared around avoiding things like merit increases or bonus payouts wherever possible. A glowing mid-year review where merit increases are not discussed is likely to be followed up with a less glowing or negative year-end review when it comes time to discuss money. Specifics are not given for low marks leaving the employee to remain confused about the process and how to improve. – less

Easy job most of the time
Production Programmer II (Current Employee), Suisun City, CA – July 26, 2012
Pros: free monthly lunches/breakfast, two 10 minute breaks
Throughout the 6 and half years I've worked with this company, new areas of opportunies opened which led me to take on additional projects and responsibilities that expanded my knowledge and skills.

I like working at Vertafore because the job is easy most of the time and my commute is only 10 minutes. The people and managers are also friendly.

Be careful about going to work for this company
marketing dept (Former Employee) – March 8, 2011
Cons: appreciation for a job well done is short lived
Do your due diligence before you go to work for this company. If you pay attention they have very few long term employees. The compensation and benefit package is excellent, but if you are looking for a job that you will be able to keep for a number of years this is not the one. Most of the people who work there wonder every day if it's their last day – more... on the job. Their products are good, but overpriced. Their customers are becoming increasingly uneasy with their turnover of employees and the pricing of their products and it won't be long before some of their competitors catch up to them and leave them in the dust. – less
