I have worked for Vertex Innovations for the past year and half. Then last September they laid me off due to new direction the company is going into. Although, I do not agree with this statement and think it was a just a reason to lower overhead, I do think they can still become a multi-billion dollar company if upper management will focus more on their employees rather than making more money for themselves.
Yes, they did provide a great work environment and the ability to learn more things to help me evolve into a better marketer.
Yet at the same time, they were more worried about how much money can I make this year rather than helping their internal staff be happy. The communication skills from upper management to mid-level staff was poor and they never really thought about how this discussion would effect their employees.
An example of not taking care of the employees, they have a quote "We always do what we say we are going to do," and that quote is a lie. They told me they will take care of me and help me when I need it, yet instead of helping me they laid me off to cut overhead and then told me they will hire me back in a few weeks as a contract worker to help do the exact same thing that I was doing before they laid me off.
So, instead of taking care of me. They laid me off so they do not have to pay for benefits or anything and then hire me back a lower rate and on a month to month contract.
This all happen about 2 to 3 weeks after I told them, my wife was pregnant. They will never say this is the reason and they have other reason to make sure. However, its very interesting to tell your boss your wife is pregnant and then 3 weeks later I get laid off.
