Via Rail Canada

We make sure every day, that VIA Rail lives up to the trust Canadians place in us when they board our trains. In 1999 we made this commitment more visible, involving every employee more directly than ever before.

Our new Safety, Health, and Environment Department oversees safety and environmental initiatives from coast to coast, throughout the organization.
 – more... It reports directly to me. An Executive Safety Council, and 19 Safety and Health Committees ensure full consultation and cooperation on safety issues between management and our unions. We are developing one of the best Safety Management Systems in the railway business. We're working to achieve ISO certification with respect to environmental standards in materials handling. We are underwriting the implementation of a new emergency response software that provides information to first responders - helping to finance the purchase and distribution of the software, along with training for its use. This emphasis on safety is an integral part of our management philosophy.

Our goal is to become the best run, best managed passenger service in Canada. We've focused on the fundamentals of running passenger rail as a business, with sound financial management practices.

We've focused on cutting and controlling costs, while targeting resources where they count - improving services to our customers.

We've focused on growing passenger rail by building on its unique market strengths - as one of the safest, most affordable, most environmentally responsible transportation solutions available in Canada today.

Those are the strengths that will make passenger rail a key part of Canada's transportation network of the future. – lessMore from ZoomInfo »
