Video Equipment Rentals is a company that rents audio/ video equipment to hotels, staging and production companies, television shows, and corporate events. Although the company does not operate the equipment, they have a massive, and constantly expanding inventory and works as a library for audio video equipment.
The work, depending on the time of year is constant and manageable. My co-workers and I were able to develop a rapport and a great working relationship and most of them are great people outside of work.
The management is very understanding with time off, but also expect you to work when the office gets busy. Nothing is more respectable to me when a manager can finish their work and be able to help the people who work underneath them. At VER, you are held accountable for your own work and very little micro-management occurs. There are opportunities for travel and advancement, and it is a great compliment when you are recommended for travel.
This company taught me great skills aside from learning the equipment. I learned inventory tracking, time management, working against a deadline, and logistical inventory control. The most difficult part of the job was the unpredictable hours during the busier times of the year, however I was able to take a great sense of pride away from the job when I would see my equipment being used on television or an event that I attended.
