A typical day includes teaching individuals with developmental disabilities different life skills to help them find a job in the community. This includes behavioral management and working with clinicians to help better the individuals progress towards becoming an independent member of the community. Creating and implementing different curriculums, and – more... serving as a liaison between staff and management. Hardest part of my job is making the most of the little resources the Vinfen Corporation provides. The program lacks the funds and appropriate amount of staff to best support the individuals. I search and apply for grants on my spare time and make donations myself to help better the lives of those I work with. The most enjoyable part of my job is every day, I care for those I serve and take great joy in watching them reach their goals. – less

great place to work. Vinfen gives good benefits and there is room for growth. You get to contribute to the greater need of other people, who cannot help themselves.

This is a company that has a top down approach, has a severe lack of communication in the department and company, the decisions are based on the top managers and all lower managers are unable to make changes, nor do they make changes as they are incompetent.
Wished I had never accepted the position.

The company does not care what you do for the clients, they just want billable notes and for employees to listen to people above even if it is not in the clients best interest. Its about who you know, not what you do. The management is also very disorganized and sometimes seems to appear they have no idea what they are doing.

I work for a non profit with nice but very quiet and non-interactive people. My desire is to work with more socially outgoing people who are communicative like myself. The hardest part of my job is dealing with the lack or pockets of missed communication that is not conveyed to me, which is often. I love the challenges and the rewards that come with working with and supporting our clients who are diagnosed with a mental illness and/or physical disability. I enjoy seeing the progress made by each of them toward obtaining their goals and eventually becoming fully independent individuals. A typical day involves checking in with each resident and – more... working with them on their chosen goals. I also schedule and transport them to and from their appointments, I assist them with housekeeping, food shopping, money management, medication management, finding employment, personal care and hygiene, I help them get more involved in the community and assist them with learning and implementing coping skills and symptom management skills. I think of my co-workers as friends and I believe we make a great team that allows us to provide quality care to the people we serve. – less

A very large social organization that helps individuals who suffer from mental illness and other. A typical day can range from helping someone organize their room, to creating a nice meal to helping them work on a life goal. Poor management, not enough focus on employees. Poor salaries. Too much favoritism.

A typical day at work for me consists of checking in with my clients who has staying home for the day. Communicating with them about their treatment plan and their goals, and to check in with them as to the progress they have made around these goals.
Throughout my day, I am in communication with my supervisor and the management team as we are constantly – more... strategizing about inprovements that we can make when it comes to client care and treatment.
My co-workers and I work diligently together as we strive to best serve our clients.
There isn't really a hard part of my job, but I will say that doing weekly grocery shopping can be a bit difficult because it takes about 3 hours to shop, which means 3 hours away from the program not getting any paperwork done.
The most enjoyable part of my joy is being caught up on all of my work; the best feeling ever. – less

I enjoyed working with the clients but management is very unprofessional in most entry level residential residents

low pay and overworked no loyalty to employees, management is not sympathetic to employee needs especially when it comes to taking time off for family matters. unless you can get an approval for the fmla and you have the time allready banked you are sol. Encourage workers to continue their education whether by taking trainings or going back to school.

This is a great place to work where no two days are exactly alike. High degree of energy is a constant and necessary component to the working day. Managers are great and available when needed. Co-workers are also positive and help to create a wonderful teamwork environment. Meeting the varied needs of individual consumers is not always possible and – more... may lead to a difficult day. However,there is usually a fresh start to the next day.The moments when all the best efforts of the team produce some minor yet positive change in a consumers life are quite enjoyable. – less

I work in this company once a week. It has been a great experience, I have learned new skills that allow me to improve my job with the clients and be more productive.
