Rockingham Memorial Hospital (RMH) won't rock you to sleep, but you may sleep better knowing the acute care medical center is close by. The hospital serves residents in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley, offering some 240 beds. In addition to emergency services and general surgeries and care procedures, RMH offers specialized services including cardiovascular care, cancer treatment, sleep disorder diagnosis, behavioral health care, medical imaging, orthopedic procedures, obstetrics, and rehabilitation, as well as home health, hospice, and wellness services. RMH, founded in 1912, is part of the Sentara Healthcare system.
RMH is located in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and serves residents in seven surrounding counties.
RMH handles about 16,000 inpatient visits and 190,000 outpatient visits per year, as well as some 2,000 births and 19,000 surgeries. Its emergency room handles about 70,000 patients annually, while the RMH Cancer Center conducts about 14,000 treatment procedures.
RMH completed construction of a brand new hospital to replace its existing facility in mid-2010. The organization raised funds for the construction of its new facility through the sale of the previous hospital building to James Madison University, as well as through private donations, staff donations, bond sales. The new hospital included an expanded emergency room and all private-patient rooms, and helped RMH improve on technology, quality of care, and patient convenience.
RMH became part of regional health system Sentara Healthcare in 2011 when its parent organization, RMH Healthcare, was acquired by Sentara. – less
